Collection: Micro Cut Shredders

A micro-cut shredder is mechanically the same idea as a cross-cut machine with a much finer cutting head. It covers the top three paper levels of DIN 66399: P-5 at no more than 30 mm² per particle, P-6 at 10 mm² and P-7 at 5 mm². Typical cut sizes are 1.9 x 15 mm for P-5, 0.78 x 11 mm for P-6 and 0.8 x 4.5 mm or 1 x 5 mm for P-7.

The trade-off is real and worth planning for. Sheet capacity falls steeply as the particle gets finer — the same chassis that takes 14 to 16 sheets at P-4 may take 6 at P-6 and 4 or 5 at P-7. Bins fill faster too, because a single page becomes thousands of particles that pack less densely than confetti. Budget for more frequent emptying, not just a higher purchase price.

P-5 is the usual answer where healthcare, legal, financial or research records are involved. P-6 and P-7 are for secret and classified material.
