The HSM SECURIO P36i 1/32 x 7/16 plus OMDD cutting unit 2x2mm (MPN 1855121M) pairs a P-6 paper shredder cutting to 0.78 x 11 mm with a separate OMDD unit that reduces CDs, DVDs, credit and loyalty cards and floppy disks to 2 x 2 mm. Two streams, kept apart

The point of this configuration is that media never reach the paper head. A 0.78 mm cutter has very fine teeth that a disc would damage, so discs and cards go to the OMDD unit, where they are reduced to 2 x 2 mm rather than simply cracked. The media unit comes with its own small waste container, which makes it easier to keep disc and card waste separate from paper if your disposal arrangement requires it.

Why the 0.78 x 11 mm cut counts as P-6

The particle area is 8.58 mm2, inside the 10 mm2 limit for P-6, and the 0.78 mm width satisfies the sub-millimetre condition that class adds. The trade sometimes mislabels this cut as P-5, which allows 30 mm2. It still falls short of NSA/CSS 02-01, whose 1 x 5 mm limit this 11 mm-long particle exceeds.

Day-to-day operation

Remove staples and clips: HSM's per-model ratings for this machine do not cover fastenings, and metal is what dulls a micro-cut head. If documents cannot be guaranteed staple-free, the metal-detection version (1855121N) adds a backstop. The built-in oiler lubricates the paper cutters automatically. Micro-cut waste is fine and dusty, so empty the 145 L bin before it packs against the door. The 330 mm (12.99 in) throat accepts oversize originals without folding, and the cabinet fits a 580 x 550 mm footprint.
