Choose by security level

A level is a measured output specification, not a badge a vendor awards itself. Every figure below is a maximum particle area. P-7 is the highest level the standard defines — there is no P-8.

A DIN P-7 rating and an NSA/CSS listing are not the same thing. P-7 describes the particle the machine produces; NSA/CSS Specification 02-01 also requires the exact model to appear on the Evaluated Products List. Where a model is listed we say so on its product page — see the NSA/CSS approved range.

Strip cut 71 Parallel strips, P-1 and P-2. Treat it as a tidiness measure rather than a security measure. Cross cut 176 Two-directional cut, usually P-3 to P-4. The default once an office handles personal data. Micro cut 152 Very fine particles, P-5 and above. Lower sheet capacity is the trade-off, on every brand.
