Shredding paper produces fine airborne dust. In a copy room that is a nuisance; in an occupied open-plan office, or anywhere a machine runs for long periods, it is a workplace air-quality question worth engineering out.

Two approaches are represented here. Filters fit the machine and trap particles at source — the Dahle CleanTEC fine dust filter is rated to capture up to 98% of fine dust particles and is designed for Dahle's CleanTEC shredders. Vacuum extraction kits connect the machine to a suction system that removes dust and light waste continuously; the HSM ProfiPack P425 conversion kit and the intimus vacuum kit are of this type and are aimed at cardboard converters and industrial installations, where the material volume is much higher.

Check compatibility carefully before ordering. These are model-specific parts rather than universal accessories, and a filter or kit designed for one machine family will not fit another. Product pages list the models each part suits.
