Collection: Security Level 2 Shredding

DIN 66399 Security Level P-2 allows a maximum particle area of 800 mm². Like P-1, it is a strip-cut level: the sheet is cut into narrower strips, usually around 6 mm wide, but still in one direction only. Individual strips are smaller than at P-1 and reassembly takes longer, but the level is still defined for material of low protection requirement.

We would rather be straight with you than oversell it: P-2 is not a confidentiality control. It suits internal paperwork whose disclosure would be inconvenient rather than damaging — internal memos, expired price lists, delivery notes, duplicate printouts, obsolete forms and general office recycling. It is not appropriate for personal data, medical records, financial statements, HR files or anything covered by HIPAA, FACTA or similar obligations.

Typical buyers are logistics operations, manufacturing sites, education, hospitality and any office shredding large volumes of routine paper where speed and low cost per sheet matter more than particle size. Strip-cut machines at this level generally accept more sheets per pass, fill bins more slowly and need less frequent oiling than cross-cut or micro-cut heads.
