HSM SECURIO B34 - 1/4" Strip Cut Document Shredder - HSM1841

The SECURIO B34 in 5.8 mm strip cut is the highest-throughput machine in the whole B32/B34 family: 30 to 32 sheets of 80 g/m2 paper per pass at DIN 66399 P-2, into a 100-litre pull-out container. It shares the 310 mm feed opening with the smaller B32, so the difference you are paying for is the bigger motor, the bigger bin and the higher sheet count - not a wider throat.

Key Features

• 30 to 32 sheets per pass. The highest paper capacity across both chassis. If clearing volume is the job, nothing else in the range is quicker.
• 700 W motor. Ninety watts more than the B32, and the reason this machine sustains a higher feed rate rather than backing off into its reverse cycle.
• 100-litre waste container. Rated by HSM at about 658 sheets of 5.8 mm strip waste. Strip cut is bulky, so a big bin matters more here than on a micro-cut model.
• Rated for staples, paper clips, cards and optical media. HSM lists this model at E-2, O-2, P-2 and T-2, so stapled sets, old badges and obsolete discs all fall within what it is built for.
• Automatic light-barrier operation. Starts when paper enters, stops when the throat clears. EcoSmart control holds standby draw at 0.1 W.
• Same 310 mm feed opening as the B32. Letter, legal and tabloid all pass fed short edge first. The B34 is taller and deeper, not wider at the throat.

The HSM SECURIO B34 arrives assembled: the cutting head and cabinet are a single unit, with the 100 l (26.4 gal) waste container in place behind the cabinet door, plus the mains lead and the HSM operating manual. There is no oiler on this article — lubrication, where required, is a manual task.

Shredder bags and HSM's fitting cardboard waste box are consumables and are not included — order them with the machine if you do not intend to empty the container loose. A strip-cut head of this size is not on HSM’s routine oiling schedule, so no oil is needed to put it into service.

Who Should Buy This — and Who Should Not

This belongs in a mailroom, print room, records office or school administration block where the daily job is getting rid of a lot of non-sensitive paper quickly. At 30-plus sheets a pass with a 100-litre bin, it will absorb a filing-cabinet clear-out without anyone standing over it.

It is the wrong choice the moment security level enters the conversation. P-2 is a 5.8 mm ribbon and it will not stand up to an audit of how you destroy personal data. For that, move up the same chassis: the B34 at 1.9 x 15 mm gives P-5, and the 0.78 x 11 mm version gives P-6. If you like this cut but the volume does not justify the footprint - the B34 is 541 mm wide, 439 mm deep and 845 mm tall, and weighs 34.5 kg - the SECURIO B32 in the identical 5.8 mm strip takes 25 to 27 sheets in a smaller cabinet, usually for meaningfully less money.
