A shredder-baler does two jobs in one pass: it destroys the document and then compresses the output into a strapped bale. The reason to buy one is handling cost. Loose shredded paper is mostly air, so a site producing serious volume spends real money on bags, bins, floor space and the labour of moving them — and gets a poor price for the material at the other end.

The range covers the HSM Powerline series — SP 4040 V, SP 5080 and SP 5088 — at cut sizes from 1/4 inch strip through 1/8 x 1 1/2 inch cross-cut, and intimus 14.87 and 16.86 shredders paired with the 870 baler at P-2 and P-3, running 220 V three-phase. Bale dimensions on the intimus pairings are approximately 20 x 24 x 30 inches.

The payback calculation is straightforward: compare the capital difference against what you currently spend handling and disposing of loose shred, plus any rebate a baled load attracts.
