HSM Powerline SP 4040 V - 1/4 Industrial Shredder and Baler - HSM3513

The SP 4040 V is HSM's smallest shredder-baler combination, and this is the strip-cut version of it — the only machine in the SP 4040 range that does not produce a particle cut. A 5.8 mm strip puts it at DIN 66399 P-2 and gives it the highest sheet capacity in the family at 104 sheets a pass. Behind the cutting head, a KP 40 V vertical press compacts the output into 35 kg bales, which is the real argument for the machine: shredded paper stops being a bulky handling problem and becomes a stackable, saleable commodity.

What's in the Box

This is a palletised industrial installation rather than a boxed product, and HSM does not publish a shipping contents list for it. Freight, rigging into position, the three-phase electrical connection and any strapping consumables for tying finished bales are separate from the machine price. Confirm all four when you order.

Who Should Buy This — and Who Should Not

Take this version if your priority is volume reduction and recycling economics rather than security level: print rooms, mailing houses, distribution centres and archive stores clearing large quantities of non-sensitive paper that still has to be destroyed and then shipped out efficiently. Strip cut at 5.8 mm also puts the least load on the cutting head of the three SP 4040 V variants.

Do not take it if you shred personal data or client material. P-2 is a bulk-disposal rating, and a 5.8 mm strip preserves whole lines of text down its length. The SP 4040 V at 5.8 × 50 mm (P-3) costs you only eight sheets a pass and moves you to a genuine cross cut; the P-4 version at 3.9 × 40 mm is the one to specify if a privacy programme is involved.

Also consider scale. At 104 sheets a pass and a 428 mm intake, the SP 4040 V is a departmental machine. If you are feeding it from a collection round across a whole building, the SP 5080 range takes a 500 mm intake and several times the sheet capacity, at roughly double the weight and footprint.
