HSM Powerline SP 5080 - 1/4 x 1/2-2 3/32 Industrial Shredder and Baler

A 6 × 40–53 mm particle cut at DIN 66399 P-3, 300–350 sheets a pass, and an 80 kN press that bales the output as it is produced. This is the SP 5080 for organisations that destroy genuinely large quantities of ordinary commercial-confidential paper and have to do something sensible with the residue afterwards — records centres, local authorities, universities, insurers and shared service centres running a building-wide collection round into one machine.

What's in the Box

The SP 5080 ships as a palletised industrial installation, not a boxed product, and HSM does not publish a packing list for it. Freight, rigging into position, the three-phase electrical connection, any dust extraction and the strapping consumables used to tie finished bales are all separate from the machine price. Confirm each of them at the point of order.

Who Should Buy This — and Who Should Not

This is the sensible default in the SP 5080 range. P-3 covers general commercial-confidential material — internal reports, operational and financial records, superseded contracts, correspondence — and 300–350 sheets a pass means a whole building's paper can go through one machine without the destruction room becoming a queue. The baler then removes the second problem, which is what to do with several cubic metres of loose shred a week.

Where it is the wrong choice is when a written policy names P-4 or P-5. That is now common wherever personal data is involved, and no amount of throughput argument survives an audit finding. In that case take the 3.9 × 40 mm P-4 version at 180–200 sheets, or the 1.9 × 15 mm P-5 version, which drops to 90–100 sheets and adds 130 kg.

Two alternatives worth pricing against it. If loose shred is not actually a problem for you, the FA 500.3 with the identical cutting head shreds exactly as fast for far less machine. And if your bales need to be heavier and more transport-efficient, the SP 5088 uses the same cutting head with an 85 kN channel press making 90 kg bales.
