HSM Powerline FA 500.3 - 1/4 x 1 1/2 Industrial Shredder - HSM1990

The HSM Powerline FA 500.3 1/4 x 1 1/2 (HSM1990) is a P-3 conveyor-fed industrial shredder that cuts 6 x 40-53 mm particles and processes 300 to 350 sheets per pass into a 530 liter (140 US gallon) trolley. It is the middle option of the FA 500.3 range, balancing confidential-grade particles against high throughput. It is a strong fit for a shared central shredder destroying business-confidential paper where no external rule names a higher level.

What P-3 protects, and where it stops

DIN 66399 allows up to 320 mm² per particle at P-3; at the short end of its range this head produces 240 mm² pieces. That puts reconstruction well beyond casual effort, which suits internal memos, retired operational records, contracts, pricing and general commercial paperwork. The limit is external requirements: client security schedules, some insurers and many health and financial privacy programs now specify P-4 or above. Check before ordering, because the cutting head is not something you swap later. The E-2, O-2 and T-3 parts of the rating cover electronic media, optical discs and identity cards.

Built to keep up with several departments

At 300 to 350 sheets per pass on a continuous-duty drive, the limit in a shared room is usually the person carrying boxes, not the machine. Busy sites often run a collection round with wheeled consoles and unload them onto the belt. Crumpled paper from consoles goes in as it is, and the induction-hardened solid steel rollers take staples, paper clips, CDs and DVDs, floppy disks, credit cards and USB sticks. The trolley rolls out from under the machine with no disposable sacks to fit; HSM publishes no fill-rate figure, so plan emptying around your own volumes. An emergency stop bar, LED controls and castors with a parking brake are standard.

• 3.9 x 40 mm (P-4): same 7.5 kW drive and 905 kg, at 180 to 200 sheets. Choose it when a policy names P-4.

• 1.9 x 15 mm (P-5): 90 to 100 sheets, under a third of this head's rate, for P-5 mandates.
• SP 5080 at 6 x 40-53 mm: this cut combined with a baling press, turning loose shred into bales for recycling.

Who it suits, and who should look elsewhere

Pick it for high-volume internal and commercial-confidential destruction serving several departments. Choose the P-4 head if contracts or privacy programs require it, the P-2 head if speed is the only concern, and an SP 5080 if you want bales.
