The SP 5080 in its 10.5 × 40–76 mm form is a paper-volume machine first and a security machine second. It runs 510–550 sheets a pass — the fastest cutting head in the range — and pushes the output straight into an 80 kN KP 80 press that turns it into bales up to 800 mm long. For an archive clearance or a records centre shipping paper out by the tonne, that combination is the point. What it is not is a confidential-destruction machine: the rating is DIN 66399 P-2.

What's in the Box

The SP 5080 ships as a palletised industrial installation, not a boxed product, and HSM does not publish a packing list for it. Freight, rigging into position, the three-phase electrical connection, any dust extraction and the strapping consumables used to tie finished bales are all separate from the machine price. Confirm each of them at the point of order.

Who Should Buy This — and Who Should Not

Buy this configuration for bulk: decommissioned archives, print and mailing overruns, obsolete forms and manuals, and records that have passed retention but were never sensitive. At 510–550 sheets a pass with a press behind it, one operator and a pallet truck can clear a volume of paper that would occupy a team for days with a bagging machine.

Do not buy it for personal data, client files or anything with a contractual confidentiality obligation attached. P-2 permits particles up to 800 mm² and this cut produces 420 mm² — large enough to carry readable fragments. The 6 × 40–53 mm P-3 version still manages 300–350 sheets, and the 3.9 × 40 mm P-4 version is the one to specify if a privacy programme is involved.

If you do not need the bales, the standalone FA 500.3 with this same cutting head gives identical shredding performance at 883 kg instead of 1350 kg and a much smaller footprint, collecting into a 530 litre trolley. The baler earns its keep only if loose shred is genuinely a handling or haulage problem for you.
