The HSM SECURIO P44i article 1870 is the volume workhorse of the P44i line: a 3.9 mm strip cut that takes 61 to 63 sheets of 80 g/m² paper in a single pass. It is the model you buy when the problem is quantity of ordinary internal paperwork rather than the sensitivity of what is printed on it. At DIN 66399 P-2 it is not suitable for personal data, financial records or anything covered by HIPAA or GLBA - if that is your material, stop here and look at the 1873 (P-4) or 1875 (P-6) instead.

Every P44i shares the same cabinet and drivetrain: a 15.75-inch (400 mm) intake that swallows letter, legal and A3 sheets without folding, a 54.2-gallon (205 L) pull-out collection cabinet, a 1,900 W IntelligentDrive motor, and a touch display that reports bin status and jams in plain language. What's in the Box

The P44i ships as one assembled unit: shredder head mounted on its collection cabinet, power cord and operating manual. HSM classes the reusable collecting bag and the P44i cardboard collection box as consumables, which means they are ordered separately - no bags or boxes are included with the machine. Budget for a starter supply with the initial order so the cabinet is usable on day one. Freight is curbside on a pallet unless you arrange inside delivery; at over 230 lb this is not a two-person carry up a stairwell.

Who Should Buy This - and Who Should Not

Buy it if you run a print-heavy department - engineering drawings, logistics paperwork, marketing proofs, expired internal reports - and the bottleneck is people waiting at the machine. Sixty-plus sheets per pass with a 400 mm throat means a stack of mixed-size paper goes in as a stack.

Do not buy it if the paper contains names, account numbers, medical information or anything a regulator would call personal data. P-2 permits particles up to 800 mm², and whole words survive on a 3.9 mm strip; it is a confidentiality measure, not a data-protection measure. The SECURIO P44i 1873 gives you P-4 at 43-45 sheets per pass on the identical chassis, and the 1875 gives you P-6 at 17-19 sheets. If you want a wider strip and even more throughput, the 1871 (5.8 mm, 77-79 sheets) is the same machine with a coarser head.
