HSM SECURIO B35 1/8 inch Strip Cut Document Shredder - HSM1920

The HSM SECURIO B35 HSM1920 is a P-2 strip-cut cabinet shredder that cuts 1/8 in (3.9 mm) strips at 26-28 sheets per pass through a 15.75 in (400 mm) intake. It gives a busy shared office a neater, narrower strip than the 5.8 mm B35 while keeping high throughput, and it is meant for everyday internal paper rather than personal data.

Why choose the 3.9 mm strip on a B35

On the B35 cabinet, the strip-cut choice comes down to 3.9 mm or 5.8 mm. The HSM1920 gives up about nine sheets per pass against the HSM1921 and in return produces a visibly finer strip that looks tidier in the bag and gives casual readers less to work with. Both are still P-2, so neither is a privacy shredder. Compared with any cross-cut B35, the HSM1920 is faster but sits at a lower security class. The real reason to buy it over a smaller cabinet is the 400 mm throat, which takes 11 x 17 in sheets and continuous computer forms without folding.

Owning the HSM1920

The 700 W motor and solid steel rollers are designed for a machine used all day by a group, with thermal protection guarding against repeated overfeeding. Staples, paper clips, credit cards and optical discs can all go through, so nobody has to sort material before shredding. Even strip cutters run better when lubricated, so give the rollers HSM cutting-block oil periodically. Collection bags are not included; HSM offers reusable collection bags for the B35 in packs of 10 or 100 and a cardboard box insert. Idle noise is about 56 dB(A), and the cutting rollers have HSM's lifetime warranty.

Who it suits

The HSM1920 is a sound pick for a busy office, school or plant floor that destroys plenty of routine internal paper and wants it gone quickly with a reasonably fine strip. Anyone handling regulated or personal information should start at the P-4 HSM1923 instead.
