The B24 chassis carries a 610 W drive that HSM describes as built for continuous operation, so this is the machine for a mail room, print room or shared floor where paper arrives faster than one person can feed it. The security level is deliberately modest: 5.8 mm strips at DIN 66399 P-2, with additional ratings for optical media and cards. Choose it for volume and material versatility, not for confidentiality.

What's in the Box

Ships assembled as a cabinet with the pull-out collection bin fitted. Shredder bags are not supplied. HSM lists one reusable collecting bag covering the 104, 105, 108, 420, AF150, AF300, B22 and B24 - in the US catalogue this is generally sold as HSM 1310. Cutting-block oil is a separate accessory; a 5.8 mm strip head is the least demanding cutter in the range for lubrication, but it still benefits from occasional oiling.

Who Should Buy This — and Who Should Not

Buy it for a print room, post room, warehouse office or any shared point where the job is to reduce a large volume of ordinary paper quickly. It also earns its place where mixed media needs destroying - discs, cards and paper through one machine - and where a full-height cabinet like the AF500 will not fit.

Do not buy it to destroy personal data. P-2 strips are 5.8 mm wide and can be reassembled by anyone patient enough; that is not a defensible standard for client records, payroll or health information, and an auditor will say so. The upgrade inside the same chassis is the 1/16" x 5/8" B24 at P-5, which drops to 9-11 sheets, or the 1/32" x 7/16" B24 at P-6 at six sheets. Both lose the CD and card ratings that this model has, so if you need high-security paper destruction and disc destruction, expect to run two machines.
