How many sheets does the HSM SECURIO P36i 5.8 mm strip cut take?
It takes 43-45 sheets of 80 g/m2 paper per pass, the most of any P36i. The wide 5.8 mm strip needs less cutting per sheet, which is why it is much faster than the cross-cut and micro-cut heads in the same cabinet.
Is the HSM1851 secure enough for personal or medical records?
No. A 5.8 mm strip is P-2, and fragments can still be read. The common benchmark for personal data is P-4 or finer. Use this machine for non-personal bulk paper and a P-4 or P-5 model, such as the P36i 4.5 x 30 mm, for anything identifying.
How does the P36i 5.8 mm differ from the 3.9 mm strip version?
Only the cutting head differs. Both are P-2 with the same 1,000 W motor, 330 mm throat and 145 L bin. The 5.8 mm version takes 43-45 sheets per pass against 34-36 for the 3.9 mm, so choose on throughput, since security is the same.
Can the SECURIO P36i strip cut shred CDs and credit cards?
Yes. HSM lists credit cards, CDs/DVDs and floppy disks for this model. Feed discs one at a time. A 5.8 mm cut gives only O-2 destruction for optical media, so sensitive discs need a machine with a separate media cutting unit.
How often does the HSM1851 bin need emptying?
HSM rates the 145 L bin at about 954 sheets of shredded strips, fewer than the 1,773 sheets the 4.5 x 30 mm P36i fits, because strips are bulky. A department feeding two reams a week would empty it roughly weekly.
Does the P36i strip cut need oiling?
The strip-cut P36i models do not have the integrated automatic oiler that HSM fits to the particle-cut versions, and strip cutting creates less roller friction. HSM's published maintenance for this model does not include manual oiling; keep the intake free of dust and empty the bin before it packs solid.
