Which shredders does the 78819 kit fit?
We cannot give you a verified list. intimus does not publish a compatibility table for this part number on its North American or international sites, and we are not willing to invent one — a dust extraction fitting that does not match your machine's port is useless. Send us your model and serial number and we will confirm with intimus before you order.
Is this the same as the APU 100 dust extraction system?
No, and the difference is large. The APU 100 is a floor-standing industrial unit with a 1.5 hp motor, a 44 sq ft filter area and a 35 gallon dust collection capacity, running on 220 V/60 Hz or 400 V/50 Hz, and it costs many times what this kit does. The 78819 is a much smaller accessory. If your problem is airborne dust around a high-volume industrial shredder, the APU 100 is the product to look at.
Why is there so little specification detail on this page?
Because intimus does not publish it for this part, and we would rather leave a row blank than fill it with a plausible-looking number. Most of the wrong specifications on shredder retail sites come from someone filling gaps with assumptions. If you need a dimension or a hose size to plan an installation, ask us and we will get it from intimus directly.
Do I need dust extraction at all?
It depends on your volume and your environment. Occasional deskside shredding produces little enough paper dust that it is not usually an issue. Continuous industrial shredding is different — dust settles on surfaces, gets drawn into electronics, and in some workplaces triggers air-quality requirements. If you are running an industrial machine for hours at a time, extraction is worth costing properly.
