The intimus 120 CP7 exists for one job: destroying classified material to a standard that survives audit. It reduces paper to 0.8 x 4.5 mm particles — 3.6 mm², against the 5 mm² that DIN 66399 permits at P-7 — and intimus states the model is listed on the NSA/CSS Evaluated Products List. That listing, not the particle size on its own, is what makes a shredder acceptable for US classified national security information.

Everything else is the familiar intimus 120 cabinet: 310 mm throat, 120-litre bin, castors, sealed enclosure, 54 x 40 x 98 cm footprint. What changes, and changes a lot, is capacity. Eight sheets a pass is a third of what the 120 CP4 manages. That is not a defect; it is the arithmetic of turning one sheet of A4 into roughly 17,000 particles.

Supplied as one assembled cabinet on castors with its pull-out bin. intimus does not publish a piece-by-piece packing list for this SKU and we are not going to guess at one. Plan separately for waste bags, which are a consumable and are not included, and for cutting-cylinder lubricant — the warranty policy makes lubrication a condition of coverage.

Who Should Buy This — and Who Should Not

Buy the 120 CP7 if you handle US classified national security information, work to a contract that names NSA/CSS 02-01, or operate in a defence, intelligence, embassy or cleared-contractor setting where the destruction standard is set for you. In those environments the specification is not negotiable and no amount of throughput on a lower-rated machine substitutes for it.

Do not buy it for ordinary commercial confidentiality. Eight sheets a pass will frustrate a general office within a week, the 120-litre bin fills quickly on very fine waste, and the warranty is shorter than on the commercial models — intimus covers high-security NSA-listed shredders for 1 year parts and 1 year on the cutting cylinders, where commercial models such as the intimus 120 CP4 carry 2 years parts and a lifetime limited warranty against cylinder fracture. If your policy asks for P-5 rather than P-7, the intimus 120 CP5 is the same cabinet at nearly twice the sheet capacity. Note too that the CP7's rated material list is narrower: paper with staples and foil, not optical media or plastic cards — destroy those on a separate machine.
