HSM SECURIO AF500 1/32 x 7/16 AutoFeed Document Shredder - HSM2105

The HSM SECURIO AF500 1/32 x 7/16 (model 2105) is a P-6 autofeed shredder that cuts paper to 0.78 x 11 mm particles and processes up to 500 sheets from a locking tray. Few automatic-feed machines reach P-6, and this one combines that level with a 21.7-gallon (82 l) bin, letting a whole department meet a high-security standard without hand-feeding. The manual slot is slow at 6 sheets, and the head handles paper and film only.

Making P-6 workable for a whole department

High-security shredders are usually small, hand-fed machines that one person operates a few sheets at a time. The AF500 changes that equation. Staff can drop a stack of up to 500 sheets into the magazine and lock it, and the machine feeds roughly six sheets at a time until the tray is empty. The large container is a necessity rather than a luxury at this cut: P-6 output is fine and dusty, and a smaller bin would need constant attention.

How DIN 66399 classes this cut

P-6 demands particles of no more than 10 mm² and no wider than 1 mm. At 0.78 x 11 mm, this head meets both conditions, a full class finer than the 28.5 mm² particles of the P-5 AF500. P-6 is still not NSA approval: that requires particles no larger than 1 x 5 mm plus a listing for the exact model, and among HSM's office machines it is the SECURIO B24 in 1 x 5 mm, a hand-fed model, that fills that role.

Care and limits of a fine cutting head

The full rating is F-3 and P-6, so feed only paper and film. Cards, discs and plastic badges can damage a 0.78 mm cutter. Staples and paper clips are acceptable. Oil the cutting block regularly with HSM cutting-block special oil (sold separately), since fine cutters clog sooner than coarse ones and lose sheet capacity when neglected. Comparing the AF500 P-6 with nearby models

• AF500 1/16 x 5/8 (P-5): 9-11 sheets per pass, takes credit cards and keeps the lifetime roller warranty.
• AF500 3/16 x 1 1/8 (P-4): 14-16 sheets and ratings for CDs, DVDs and cards (O-3, T-4).

Who the AF500 P-6 is for

Buy it when a written standard, client contract or government requirement names P-6 and you still have a department's worth of paper to destroy. It is the wrong tool for general office paper: the 6-sheet manual rate is slow, cards and discs are excluded, and you give up the lifetime roller warranty that the P-5 version carries.
