HSM SECURIO P40i 1/32 x 7/16 plus separate OMDD cutting unit 2x2mm

Pairing a P-6 paper head with a 2 x 2 mm optical media head is what makes this configuration worth its price. The plain 0.78 x 11 mm P40i does not accept CDs at all; this one destroys them in a dedicated unit that reaches O-6 and T-6, the highest optical and data-carrier classes DIN 66399 defines, into a separate waste container. If your destruction policy covers both paper and media and you would rather not run two machines, this is the single-box answer at P-6.

Specifications

Sheet capacities are HSM's per-model figures at 80 g/m2 A4. HSM's range brochure quotes capacity at 70 g/m2, which reads roughly 15 percent higher, so figures quoted elsewhere may not match.

What's in the Box

Ships with both cutting units installed, the 145 litre paper container, the separate media waste container for the OMDD unit, and the factory-fitted automatic oiler. Collection bags and cardboard disposal boxes for the main container are not included; order the reusable collecting bag or the P36i/P40i cardboard box separately, along with cutting block special oil.

Who Should Buy This - and Who Should Not

Buy it if you need P-6 paper destruction and defensible optical media destruction from one machine, and you would rather pay once than manage a shredder plus a separate disc destroyer. The O-6 class from the 2 x 2 mm unit is a real step above the 4 x 7 mm CD units fitted to the P-4 versions.

Do not buy it if your requirement is actually NSA-level. This machine's paper cut is 0.78 x 11 mm, which exceeds the 1 mm x 5 mm particle limit in NSA/CSS 02-01; the P40i 1 x 5 mm with the same OMDD unit (article 1884121M) is the configuration in this family that appears on the NSA Evaluated Products List. Equally, do not buy it if you shred a few discs a year and mostly need paper volume, because the P-4 P40i handles roughly two and a half times as many sheets per pass for less money. Note too that HSM's lifetime cutting-roller warranty covers P-2 to P-5 only, so this machine carries the 3-year machine warranty alone.
