Collection: High Security Shredders

High security means a small particle, and nothing more than that. Under DIN 66399 a P-6 shredder produces particles of no more than 10 mm² and a P-7 shredder no more than 5 mm² — commonly a 0.8 x 5 mm or 1 x 5 mm super micro-cut. The trade-off is throughput: a P-7 machine typically takes 4 to 11 sheets per pass, against 15 to 30 for the same chassis at P-4.

Two clarifications that matter more than any feature list. First, DIN P-7 is not the same as NSA/CSS approval. NSA/CSS Specification 02-01 requires a 1 mm x 5 mm particle and that the specific model appears on the NSA Evaluated Products List. Several machines meet DIN P-7 without being listed. If you are destroying classified national security information, work from the EPL and the government approved range, not from a P-rating. Second, DIN 66399 has seven paper levels and stops at P-7 — there is no P-8.
