KOBRA 400 HS-6 COMBI

The KOBRA 400 HS-6 COMBI is a two-in-one high-security destroyer that cuts paper to 0.8 x 5 mm particles at DIN 66399 P-7 and optical media and cards to 1.5 x 2 mm at O-6, using two separate cutting heads, openings and bins in one cabinet. Units manufactured in or after November 2019 appear on the NSA/CSS Evaluated Products List as "Kobra 400 HS-6 Combi". It is for secure facilities that must destroy both classified paper and discs, ID cards or SIM cards and want one supervised destruction point instead of two machines.

Two heads, two waste streams in the HS-6 COMBI

The two cutting units share a cabinet and motor, but not knives or waste. Paper drops into a 29-gallon (110-liter) plastic bag, while disc, card and SIM debris goes into a 22-gallon (80-liter) fabric bag, since sharp polycarbonate fragments tend to split plastic liners. Keeping them apart lets each stream follow its own disposal and audit procedure. The machine stops automatically when either bag is full, and electronic eyes plus automatic reverse handle feeding and jams.

Protection for the fine paper head comes from Kobra's Shred Guard metal detection, which catches binder clips and similar hardware before it reaches a 0.8 mm cutter. A dedicated automatic oiler lubricates the high-security knives while the machine works.

Capacity figures to plan around on the COMBI

Kobra's own figures differ by region, so plan conservatively. The European datasheet gives 8-10 sheets of 70 g/m² paper per pass; Kobra's US page states up to 14. P-7 heads take many cuts per sheet, so 8-10 is the realistic working number. For media, the European datasheet (rev. 10) lists up to 2,100 discs per hour. Both are respectable for a machine at this security level, but neither makes it a bulk paper shredder.

Besides the date-qualified NSA/CSS EPL entry, which covers paper as well as CD, DVD and Blu-ray discs, EMV and magnetic stripe cards, CAC IDs and SIM cards, Kobra lists NPSA approval for UK government use and states the optical output exceeds Australia's ASIO T-4 standard. Before raising a purchase order against a government requirement, confirm the unit's manufacture date and the current EPL revision.

Buy it when one secure room must handle classified paper and optical media and you want one machine, one service arrangement and clearly separated waste. Choose a single-purpose model if you mostly shred paper and need a wider throat, or if your requirement is commercial rather than government-level.
