Description

The 1/32" x 3/16" SECURIO B24 cuts 1 x 5 mm particles - DIN 66399 class P-7, the highest paper class the standard defines - and it is the HSM office machine that appears on the NSA/CSS Evaluated Products List for paper shredders. That listing matters: NSA/CSS 02-01 requires both a maximum particle of 1 mm x 5 mm and the specific model's presence on the list, and a high DIN rating alone never satisfies it. This version is supplied without the external automatic oiler. If you have someone who will oil the cutting block reliably, that is the cheaper way to own this machine; if you do not, the oiler-equipped SKU exists for a reason.

Key Features

  • DIN 66399 P-7 at 1 x 5 mm – 5 mm² particles - the finest paper class the standard defines, producing roughly 12,000 pieces from a single letter-size sheet.
  • Listed on the NSA/CSS EPL for paper shredders – The Securio B24 (L6) entry on the January 2026 list corresponds to this 1 x 5 mm cutting head.
  • 610 W continuous-operation drive – A large motor working a very fine head, which is what allows sustained running at four sheets a pass.
  • 9.2-gallon pull-out bin – HSM rates it at approximately 626 sheets' worth of shredded material - the highest sheet-equivalent capacity of any cut on this chassis, because P-7 particles pack tightly.
  • Deskside footprint at 395 x 317 x 605 mm – A classified-material shredder that fits in an office rather than a plant room.
  • About 54 dB(A) at idle – Quiet for a machine of this class.

Specifications are taken from HSM's datasheet for article 1784111, the EU-market equivalent of US part 1784113. Sheet capacities are quoted at 80 g/m²; HSM's range brochure quotes higher figures measured at 70 g/m².

What's in the Box

Ships assembled with its pull-out 9.2-gallon collection bin. This SKU does not include the external automatic oiler; the otherwise identical 1/32" x 3/16" B24 with the oiler is available if unattended lubrication matters to you. Cutting-block oil is a separate accessory and on a P-7 head it is required maintenance rather than an optional extra. Shredder bags are not included - HSM's reusable collecting bag for the 104/105/108/420/AF150/AF300/B22/B24 group is the correct liner, sold in the US as HSM 1310.

Who Should Buy This — and Who Should Not

This machine is for organisations with a written requirement for P-7 or for NSA-listed destruction: government contractors, defence suppliers, cleared facilities, and commercial firms working to a customer's classified-handling annex. If your requirement names NSA/CSS 02-01, this is one of the very few office-format machines that answers it.

It is emphatically not a general office shredder. Four sheets per pass is slow enough to change how people work, and the head is rated for paper only - no cards, no discs, no plastic. HSM's lifetime cutting-roller warranty covers P-2 to P-5 machines, so it does not apply here. If your policy tops out at P-5, the 1/16" x 5/8" B24 takes 9-11 sheets, handles magnetic-stripe cards and keeps the lifetime roller cover; if you need P-6 but not P-7, the 1/32" x 7/16" B24 sits between them at six sheets. Buy P-7 because you are required to, not because more is better.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this shredder genuinely NSA approved?

The HSM SECURIO B24 appears on the NSA/CSS Evaluated Products List for paper shredders dated January 2026, entered as Securio B24 (L6) with a medium volume classification. HSM's Level 6 designation corresponds to the 1 x 5 mm cutting head, which is this model. The list requires devices to reduce paper to particles of 1 mm x 5 mm or less. Always check the current EPL yourself before relying on it for a compliance decision, as listings change.

How is this different from the version with the automatic oiler?

Only in what is in the box. Both are the same 1 x 5 mm P-7 cutting head on the same 610 W B24 chassis with the same 9.2-gallon bin. This SKU is supplied without the external automatic oiler; the other includes it. At P-7 the cutting block needs oiling frequently, so choose this version only if a specific person is accountable for doing it.

Only four sheets at a time - is that right?

Yes. Four sheets of 80 g/m² paper is HSM's datasheet figure for article 1784111, and it is the honest number. Cutting a page into roughly 12,000 particles takes cutting force, and every P-7 machine on the market is slow for the same reason. If you are shredding volume at this level, plan for the time or plan for more than one machine.

Can it shred CDs, credit cards or ID badges?

No. The cutting head is rated F-3 and P-7 only, meaning film and paper. There is no optical media or magnetic-stripe rating. Rigid plastic in a 1 mm cutting head risks damaging the rollers, and that damage would not be a warranty matter. Media destruction at this security level needs a purpose-built disc or drive destroyer, not a paper shredder.

How much does the bin hold at this cut?

HSM rates the 35-litre bin at approximately 626 sheets' worth of shredded material with the 1 x 5 mm head - the highest sheet-equivalent figure of any cutting size on the B24 chassis, because P-7 particles are effectively powder-fine and settle densely. In practice, at four sheets per pass, you will spend far more time feeding the machine than emptying it.

Does the lifetime cutting-roller warranty apply?

No. HSM's lifetime warranty on the induction-hardened solid steel cutting rollers covers its P-2 to P-5 machines. A P-7 head works much harder per sheet and is not included in that cover. We have not verified a specific US machine warranty term for this model and will not quote one - contact us before ordering if warranty length is a deciding factor.

Is a P-7 shredder overkill for my business?

For almost every commercial business, yes. P-4 is the accepted standard for personal data and P-5 for financial, medical and legal records. P-7 exists for classified and equivalent material, and the four-sheet capacity is a real operational cost. Buy this because a contract or a security policy specifies it. If nothing specifies it, the P-5 B24 will serve you better every day of the week.
