The KOBRA 260 HS-2 exists because the standard 260 HS is too slow for a department. It keeps the same P-6 high-security cutting head at 1/32 x 7/16 inch but drives it with a 1 1/2 HP motor in a wider, heavier cabinet, roughly doubling sheets per pass to about thirteen and lifting the feed rate to 24 ft/min. If you have several people who each need P-6 destruction and cannot afford to queue, this is the model in the family that solves that specific problem.

Who Should Buy This - and Who Should Not

Buy the 260 HS-2 for a department, a legal or HR floor, or a finance team where several people destroy sensitive paper daily and P-6 is the standard. Thirteen sheets a pass at 24 ft/min turns high-security shredding from an errand into something people will actually do at their desk rather than stockpile.

Do not buy it if one person shreds a folder a week - the 260 HS costs less, weighs 101 lb rather than 112 lb, and delivers the same P-6 particle. Do not buy it for classified destruction either: the NSA/CSS EPL for paper shredders lists the Kobra 260 HS-2/6, not the 260 HS-2, and this machine cuts an 11 mm-long particle against the 5 mm maximum in NSA/CSS 02-01. The 260 HS2-6 is the same chassis with the P-7 head and is the model that qualifies.

Ownership and Running Costs

Two consumables decide what this machine costs to run: shredder oil and waste bags. A P-6 head lubricated at every bin change will outlast one that is oiled occasionally by a wide margin, and Kobra excludes lubrication-related damage from its warranty terms, so the oil is effectively insurance. Bags for the 22-gallon bin are the other recurring item. Neither is expensive, but both belong on the stationery order rather than being remembered in a crisis. Electricity is negligible - the machine sits in standby and only draws its 1 1/2 HP under load.
