DIN 66399 / ISO IEC 21964

Collection: Security Level 3 Shredding

DIN 66399 Security Level P-3 caps the maximum particle area at 320 mm² and is the first genuinely two-directional level: P-3 machines are cross-cut, slicing the sheet across its width as well as along its length. A typical P-3 particle is around 4 x 80 mm or 6 x 50 mm. Reconstruction is impractical for a casual attacker, though not impossible for a well-resourced one.

P-3 is the sensible floor for material that is confidential but not regulated in detail: internal reports, project plans, supplier correspondence, quotations, and low-risk personal data such as internal contact lists. It is the level most general-purpose office shredders are built to, and it is a large step up in real protection from the strip-cut levels below it.

Typical buyers are small and mid-sized businesses, professional services firms, charities and departmental offices that want a defensible everyday shredding standard without the throughput penalty of finer cuts. Expect solid sheet capacity and manageable bin volumes.

If you handle payroll, HR files, patient information or customer financial data, P-4 is the more defensible baseline. See our DIN 66399 security level guide for the full comparison.
