Description

The V-Press 825 plus pro is the heavier-built version of HSM's most space-efficient vertical baler. It presses at 250 kN into a compact chamber, producing a dense bale of up to 280 kg from a machine only 2370 mm tall — the lowest press in this comparison, and the one most likely to fit a standard commercial unit without a survey argument about the roof.

Against the standard 825 plus, HSM's published data shows three measurable differences: the loading aperture is 10 mm taller (540 mm against 530), the machine is 202 mm deeper, and it weighs 140 kg more at 1210 kg. Pressing force, bale size and bale weight are the same. HSM does not publish a feature list explaining what the extra depth and mass deliver, and we are not going to invent one — ask us and we will get it confirmed.

HSM publishes no noise rating for this machine and none is quoted here. The specific pressing pressure figure HSM gives for the standard 825 plus is 26 N/cm²; we have not seen a separately published figure for the pro and so have not repeated it.

What's in the Box

The press. Polyester strapping tape is a consumable and is bought separately, as is the three-phase electrical connection and any handling equipment for finished bales. HSM does not publish a packing list for this machine.

Who Should Buy This — and Who Should Not

The case for the 825 family is density per square metre and per metre of height. At 250 kN into a 700 mm bale chamber, this press makes a heavier bale than the physically larger V-Press 820 plus while standing 129 mm lower. For a retail back-of-house, a hospital loading bay, a basement goods area or any building where the ceiling is fixed and low, that is decisive. The pro adds a heavier frame on top of that, which suits a site running the press hard all day.

Whether it is worth the premium over the standard 825 plus is a fair question, and the honest answer is that the published data does not settle it: same 250 kN, same 280 kg bale, same height. You are buying 140 kg more machine and 202 mm more depth. If your press will be lightly used, the standard version is the sensible buy and the smaller footprint is a bonus.

Look elsewhere if bale grade drives your economics. A 280 kg bale is a handling bale; the V-Press 1160 plus at 594 kN makes a 550 kg mill bale, if you have 2985 mm of height for it. And if your material is bulky rather than heavy — large part-flattened cartons, light film — the V-Press 820 plus has a taller aperture and a wider bale face, and is easier to load even though it presses less hard.

What exactly does pro add over the standard 825 plus?

On HSM's published figures: a 10 mm taller loading aperture (540 mm vs 530 mm), 202 mm more depth, and 140 kg more machine weight at 1210 kg. Pressing force, bale size, maximum bale weight, drive power and overall height are identical. HSM does not publish a feature-by-feature explanation of the difference, so if it matters to your purchase, ask us to confirm it with HSM rather than relying on the name.

Will it fit under a low ceiling?

This is the strongest reason to choose the 825 family. At 2370 mm overall the pro is 129 mm lower than the V-Press 820 plus and 615 mm lower than the V-Press 1160. It will go into most standard commercial units with clearance to spare, where the 1160 usually will not. Still measure to the lowest obstruction, sprinkler heads and lighting included, rather than to the roof deck.

How dense is a 280 kg bale compared with the 820 plus?

Meaningfully denser. The 825 pro presses 250 kN into a chamber 700 mm high rather than the 820's 1000 mm, so the same 1200 x 780 mm bale face carries 280 kg instead of 250 kg in a physically smaller package. Denser bales stack better, store in less space and are cheaper per tonne to transport, which is the practical argument for the 825 over the 820.

What does it use for strapping?

Four-fold polyester tape, the same as the rest of HSM's 8-series presses. Tape is inexpensive, stores on a roll, needs no crimping tool and is safe to handle. Only the larger V-Press 1160 uses wire as standard, because a 550 kg bale springs back with enough force that tape is no longer the right answer. Tape is a consumable and is not supplied with the machine.

Does it need three-phase power?

Yes. 480 V three-phase at 60 Hz, driving a 4.8 kW motor, hard-wired before delivery. HSM lists the equivalent 400 V / 50 Hz European article at 4 kW, which is the same motor at a lower frequency rather than a smaller one. There is no single-phase version of this press, so confirm the supply during the site survey.
