Description

This is the ProfiPack P425 in its single-phase form, and that is the whole reason to choose it over its three-phase siblings: it runs on 100–240 V at 50 or 60 Hz, so it can be plugged in wherever there is a socket rated for its 1,870 W draw. No electrician, no dedicated circuit, no waiting on an electrical contractor before the machine can earn anything.

Mechanically it is the full floor-standing P425: 425 mm intake, up to three layers of cardboard or 20 mm of infeed height, and a rated 80 kg per hour of finished cushioning mat. It is a packing-line machine rather than a bench accessory, and at 160 kg it stays where you put it.

What's in the Box

The machine as a standalone unit. The dust-extraction adapter set is not fitted to this article — HSM sells that as part of a separate P425 configuration — and the DE 1-8 extractor itself is a separate product in any case. No cardboard, no consumables and no strapping are involved; the P425 has no consumable other than electricity.

Who Should Buy This — and Who Should Not

Specify the single-phase P425 when the machine has to go somewhere that three-phase power does not reach, or when you want it running this month rather than after an electrical job. Typical sites are e-commerce fulfilment rooms, spare-parts counters, ceramics and glassware dispatch, and any operation that receives goods in double-wall cartons and ships smaller items back out.

Where it falls short is sustained heavy duty. At 1,870 W and 80 kg/h it is meaningfully slower than the three-phase P425, which draws 3,800 W and is rated to 120 kg/h. If two or three packing stations depend on one machine and it runs most of the day, the three-phase version is the correct buy and the electrical work pays for itself in throughput.

If you only pack a handful of parcels a day, this is more machine than you need: the benchtop ProfiPack C400 does the same job for one bench at 50 kg/h and weighs 46 kg instead of 160. And if your goods are awkwardly shaped and need loose fill poured around them rather than mats wrapped over them, look at the ProfiPack ecoChip, which produces chips instead.

Can I run this on a normal outlet?

Yes, and that is the point of this variant. It accepts 100-240 V at 50 or 60 Hz, single phase, drawing 1,870 W. That is a heavy but ordinary load, comparable to a kettle or a small compressor, so it needs a socket on a circuit that can carry it rather than a three-phase installation. The other two P425 configurations are 208 V three-phase and do need an electrician.

How is this different from the three-phase P425?

Same chassis, same 425 mm intake, same 20 mm infeed height, same dimensions. The differences are the motor and what it buys you: 1,870 W and 80 kg/h here, against 3,800 W and 120 kg/h on the three-phase machine, which also weighs 181 kg rather than 160 kg. If a single packing bench is being supplied, this version keeps up. If several are, the three-phase one is worth the wiring.

Will it take double-wall cardboard?

Yes. The P425 accepts up to three layers or 20 mm of infeed height, which covers standard double-wall carton stock and folded panels. This is the main practical gap between it and the benchtop C400, which takes one layer up to 10 mm and needs cartons opened out and separated by hand first. On a P425 the operator can push a folded section in as it comes off the pallet.

Can I add dust extraction later?

Dust extraction for the P425 uses the HSM DE 1-8 extractor connected through an adapter set. HSM supplies that adapter set as part of a specific P425 article rather than as a universal retrofit, and this single-phase unit is the plain configuration. If you know you need extraction, tell us before ordering so the correct article is supplied, rather than buying the extractor and finding the connection is not there.

How noisy is it next to a packing bench?

Around 60 to 62 dB(A), which is conversational-speech level and quieter than the smaller benchtop C400 at 68 to 70 dB(A). The heavier floor-standing frame absorbs more of the cutting noise. It is comfortable to work alongside for a full shift without hearing protection, though the sound of cardboard tearing is intermittent and noticeable rather than a steady hum.
