What size are the chips?
Roughly 10.5 mm wide and between 40 and 200 mm long, per HSM's ProfiPack product overview. That is a coarse, fairly rigid fill rather than a fluffy one: it braces an item inside a carton and fills voids rather than cushioning by compression. If you need soft cushioning against impact as well, a wrap layer under the fill is still worth using.
Does the vacuum come with it?
No. This article is supplied with the adapter set that lets you connect a vacuum cleaner or a dust-extraction unit; the suction unit itself is a separate purchase. HSM's matched extraction system is the DE 1-8. Chipping cardboard produces noticeably more airborne dust than perforating it, so plan for some form of extraction rather than treating it as an optional extra.
Can it run on a normal socket?
Yes. The ecoChip draws 1,870 W at 100-240 V, 50 or 60 Hz, single phase, so it needs a socket on a circuit that can carry the load but no three-phase installation and no electrician. That puts it in the same electrical class as the single-phase P425, which is useful if the packing area is in a leased unit with limited power.
How is it different from a ProfiPack P425?
Output form, mainly. Both take a 425 mm intake, up to three layers and 20 mm of infeed height, and both run 1,870 W single phase in this configuration. The P425 perforates cardboard into a flexible mat at up to 80 kg/h; the ecoChip cuts it into loose chips at up to 100 kg/h. The ecoChip is also a slightly larger and heavier machine at 769 x 698 x 1035 mm and 171.5 kg.
Where do the chips go when they come out?
Wherever you put a container. HSM does not supply a hopper, bagging system or dispenser with the machine, so most users park a mesh cage, a wheeled tote or a large bin under the outlet and fill it. Chips take up a lot of volume relative to their weight, so at 100 kg/h you will need somewhere sensible to store a day's production, not just a bin next to the bench.
