The GBC CX34-44 is a TAA-compliant commercial cross-cut shredder rated to DIN 66399 P-4, taking up to 34 sheets per pass through a 15.75 in (400 mm) opening into a 44-gallon (165-liter) pull-out bin. GBC builds two machines on this 44-gallon commercial cabinet. They share the throat, the bin, the bag size and the P-4 cutting class; the difference is how much paper each pass swallows. The CX22-44 is rated at 19-22 sheets, while this model handles up to 34. On a shredder that dozens of colleagues walk up to, that extra headroom decides whether people wait in line or leave papers stacked beside it for later.

The wide opening helps the same workflow. A handful of mixed pages from an archive box can go in without squaring or trimming, and staples and paper clips do not have to be picked out first.

Running the CX34-44 day to day

ECC+ capacity control lights an LED before a stack becomes too thick, so the operator can split the load instead of clearing a jam. After 15 idle minutes the unit drops into automatic standby, drawing under 1 Wh. Plan for a dedicated 120 V outlet on a circuit rated at 15 A or more, since the motor pulls its peak current when a loaded head starts turning.

The machine ships with the cabinet, pull-out bin and power cord. Liners are not supplied: the bin takes ACCO bag part 1145482, and shredder oil is part 1760049. Under 75 dB is commercial-machine noise, so a copy room or corridor alcove is a better home than a desk cluster.

What the CX34-44 will and will not cut

Alongside paper, the head accepts staples, paper clips, credit cards and CDs, so expired cards and old discs can go through the same slot one item at a time. ACCO publishes no exact particle dimension for this model. The P-4 designation itself caps each particle at 160 mm2, which is the reference point to use when checking a policy.

Is the CX34-44 the right fit?

It suits a site with twenty-five or more regular users, or anyone clearing archive boxes, who needs P-4 and wants one machine to keep up. A site already running the CX22-44 can add one without changing bags. A team that shreds a few pages a day is paying for capacity it will not use, and buyers whose policy names P-5 or above should look at the finer-cut models.
