Description

The Momentum X26-32 is the largest cross-cut machine ACCO builds in this range, and the number that matters most is not the 26 sheets a pass or the 32-gallon bin: it is the 12-inch throat.

Nine inches is enough for letter, legal and A4. Twelve inches takes ledger and A3 as well, and it lets someone push in a loose handful without squaring it up first. In a department where drawings, wide spreadsheets and oversized forms turn up alongside ordinary correspondence, that width is the difference between a machine everything goes into and a machine some things have to be folded for.

Key Features

  • Twelve-inch throat. Ledger, A3, legal and letter all feed unfolded.
  • Twenty-six sheets per pass on 20 lb paper — the highest in the Momentum line.
  • P-4 super cross-cut at approximately 5/32 x 1 3/16 in (about 4 x 30 mm, roughly 120 mm² per particle), comfortably inside the class limit.
  • 32-gallon bin on castors, the largest ACCO fits to a Momentum cabinet.
  • Shreds CDs, credit cards, paper clips, staples and unopened junk mail.
  • Active Sensing Anti-Jam Technology.
  • Runs continuously until the bin is full.
  • TAA compliant, 130.1 lb, two-year warranty.

It is worth noting that this model's cut is slightly finer than the smaller X machines in the range. ACCO publishes 5/32 x 1 3/16 in here against 5/32 x 1 3/8 in on the X18-12, X20-07 and X22-23 — about 120 mm² per particle rather than 138. Both are firmly P-4, so the security classification does not change, but if you are comparing particle sizes on a specification sheet the difference is real rather than a typographical one.

ACCO does not publish a decibel rating or a motor wattage for any Momentum model, describing the range only as ultra-quiet, so those rows are omitted rather than filled with an unsourced number. Sheet capacity is quoted on 20 lb paper, which is ACCO's stated basis for this range.

What's in the Box

Shredder on its 32-gallon castered bin, with power cord and operating instructions. Bags and oil are separate. ACCO does not publish a bag part number against the 32-gallon Momentum bin; its nearest listed size is the 30-gallon bag, part 1765015, which is specified for other cabinets but not this one. Confirm the fit before ordering a case. Shredder oil is part 1760049.

Who Should Buy This — and Who Should Not

Buy the X26-32 for a floor, a print room or a records area where paper arrives in handfuls and not all of it is letter size. The wide throat, the 26-sheet capacity and the 32-gallon bin together make it a machine people can walk up to with an armful and walk away from, which is the only reliable test of a shared shredder.

Do not buy it if the room is small or the floor is soft. It weighs 130 lb, stands over 40 inches tall and needs clear access at the front for a bin that wide; the X22-23 does the same job at P-4 in a noticeably smaller cabinet if your paper is all letter and legal. Do not buy it if a policy names P-5 — the M20-32 is this exact cabinet with a micro-cut head, at 20 sheets a pass instead of 26, and it is the direct substitute.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will ledger and A3 paper fit?

Yes. The throat is 12 inches wide, which takes ledger at 11 inches and A3 at 11.7 inches fed short edge first, as well as letter, legal and A4. This and the M20-32 are the only Momentum models with a throat that wide; everything else in the range is 9 inches.

Can it shred CDs and credit cards?

Yes, along with paper clips, staples and unopened junk mail. Feed discs one at a time. It will not take laminated pouches, adhesive labels, continuous form paper or cardboard, and a wide throat makes it tempting to try — do not.

How often will the 32-gallon bin need emptying?

Roughly every 700 to 1,000 sheets of cross-cut waste, though it varies a great deal with paper type and how the shred settles. For a floor of a dozen people that is usually a weekly job. The whole cabinet rolls on castors, which is the practical way to handle 32 gallons of paper waste rather than lifting it.

What is the duty cycle?

ACCO rates the Momentum range to run continuously until the bin is full rather than to a fixed on/off cycle, so the working limit here is the container rather than the motor. That is a genuine advantage over machines that stop for a cool-down after twenty or thirty minutes.

Is 26 sheets a realistic figure?

It is quoted on 20 lb paper, which is a fair basis rather than an optimistic one, and it assumes flat loose sheets fed square. Stapled sets, creased pages, coated stock and damp paper all reduce it, and the anti-jam sensor will decline an overload rather than attempt it. Plan around eighteen to twenty in routine use.

How loud is it?

ACCO does not publish a decibel figure for any Momentum model, so we have not printed one. The range is marketed as ultra-quiet. If a specific noise limit is part of your requirement — and in an open-plan office it often should be — ask us and we will get a measurement rather than repeat marketing language.

Is this NSA approved?

No. NSA/CSS 02-01 requires a 1 mm x 5 mm particle and requires the model to appear on the NSA Evaluated Products List. This machine is P-4 at roughly 4 x 30 mm and is not listed. TAA compliance is a country-of-origin rule and says nothing about security level, though the two are often confused in procurement documents.
