The GBC Momentum X18-12 is a P-4 super cross-cut office shredder that takes 18 sheets of 20 lb paper per pass and cuts them into particles of about 5/32 x 1 3/8 in (4 x 35 mm). It is built on the compact 12-gallon Momentum cabinet with a 9-inch throat and castors. It is a general-purpose choice for a team that destroys confidential business paper every day without a written requirement for micro-cut.

What "super cross-cut" means on the X18-12

DIN 66399 lets a P-4 particle reach 160 mm². The X18-12's cut lands at roughly 138 mm², inside that limit, and P-4 is the usual level for contracts, invoices, customer files and other confidential business records. It is not micro-cut: that term, in DIN terms, starts at P-5 with particles of 30 mm² or less. Some supplier listings call this model micro-cut, but ACCO's own description and the particle size both put it at P-4.

Built for a busy team rather than one desk

At 18 sheets a pass, people can feed a real handful rather than a few pages at a time. Active Sensing Anti-Jam checks the thickness of each stack as it enters and refuses a load that is too heavy, which keeps the cutters clear. The machine keeps running until its 12-gallon bin is full rather than stopping on a timer, and sleeps automatically between jobs.

The approved list covers paper with staples or clips, CDs, credit cards and unopened junk mail, so no one needs to sort before shredding; feed discs singly. • Momentum M12-12: identical cabinet and bin with a P-5 micro-cut head; 12 sheets a pass instead of 18. The choice if your policy says P-5.
• Momentum X20-07: the same P-4 particle with 20 sheets per pass but a compact 7-gallon bin, better for a single desk.
• Momentum X26-32: 26 sheets, a 12-inch throat that fits ledger and A3, and a 32-gallon bin for a whole department.

Who the X18-12 suits

A team of several people in a general office, clinic front desk or small branch will get the most from it: enough capacity per pass, a bin that does not need emptying daily, and one machine for paper, cards and discs. Look elsewhere if your policy names P-5, if you print on ledger or A3, or if the shredder will serve one person who would never fill 12 gallons.
