The GBC Momentum X20-07 is a compact P-4 super cross-cut shredder that takes 20 sheets of 20 lb paper per pass and is rated for 240 minutes of running, all in a deskside cabinet with a 7-gallon bin. It cuts paper into particles of roughly 5/32 x 1 3/8 in (4 x 35 mm). It is meant for one person or a small corner of an office that shreds confidential correspondence in bursts and has little floor space to spare.

Office-grade stamina in a deskside footprint

Small shredders usually pair a small bin with a small motor rating and a short run before cool-down. The X20-07 breaks that pattern. Four hours of running and a 20-sheet pass let it clear a drawer of old files in one session, and Active Sensing Anti-Jam checks each stack as it enters the 9-inch throat so an overloaded handful is refused rather than jammed. Auto sleep cuts power draw between uses.

The constraint is the bin. Seven gallons of bulky cross-cut waste fills fast when a machine can take 20 sheets at a time, so on a big clear-out expect to stop and empty it several times. That is the trade for a cabinet that fits beside a desk.

What the X20-07 will and will not take

ACCO approves the X20-07 for paper, paper clips, staples and unopened junk mail. Unlike the X18-12, X22-23 and X26-32, it is not rated for credit cards or CDs, so anyone who needs to destroy old cards or discs should choose a larger Momentum. Letter, legal and A4 feed flat; ledger and A3 need a 12-inch model. Its P-4 cut covers everyday confidential paper such as invoices, statements and client letters. Shredder oil is ACCO part 1760049.

When a larger Momentum makes more sense

• Momentum X18-12: same P-4 particle, 18 sheets per pass, a 12-gallon bin on castors, and approval for CDs and credit cards. Better when several people share it.
• Momentum X22-23: 22 sheets and a 23-gallon bin, for a team that would empty a 7-gallon bin daily.
• Momentum M12-12: the smallest micro-cut Momentum, for P-5 requirements, at 12 sheets per pass.

Who should choose the X20-07

It suits a manager's office, an accounts desk or a small practice where one or two people shred confidential paper through the day and space is tight. Skip it if you need to shred cards or discs, if several people will share it and fill the bin constantly, or if your policy specifies P-5.
