Description

The AutoFeed+ 750X is the biggest machine ACCO offers in this range, and the honest way to describe it is as a 600X with more room at both ends: 750 sheets in the hopper instead of 600, a 37-gallon bin instead of 29, and a twenty-sheet manual slot instead of fifteen.

What it does not give you is more time. The run time is the same four hours as the 600X, and the cabinet runs seven decibels louder at 62 dB. Choose the 750X when the constraint is how much paper you can put in and how often somebody has to empty the bin, not when it is how long the machine can run.

Key Features

  • 750-sheet locking hopper, the largest in the AutoFeed+ range — a ream and a half in one load.
  • Twenty-sheet manual feed slot, the most generous manual capacity here, which matters more than it sounds when someone wants to feed a thick file by hand.
  • 37-gallon pull-out bin, roughly 28 percent more than the 600X.
  • DIN 66399 P-4 at 5/32 x 1 3/16 in (about 4 x 30 mm, roughly 120 mm²).
  • 240-minute run time, matching the 600X.
  • Accepts staples and paper clips from the hopper; credit cards through the manual slot.
  • Two-year onsite warranty.
  • 21 x 23 x 42 in cabinet — the same floor area as the 600X, four inches taller.

A note on the word micro-cut. ACCO labels the whole AutoFeed+ range micro-cut while rating the X models P-4 and the M models P-5. Under DIN 66399 a particle of roughly 4 x 30 mm belongs to the cross-cut classes; micro-cut begins at P-5, where the particle must be 30 mm² or smaller. We classify by the standard rather than the marketing term, so this machine files under cross-cut and P-4. If a policy names micro-cut and means P-5, an M model is the one that satisfies it.

ACCO does not publish a basis weight behind the auto-feed and manual-feed sheet ratings, nor a motor wattage or shipping weight for this model, so those rows are omitted rather than estimated. Ratings in this category are normally quoted on paper lighter than US 20 lb bond, so treat the hopper figure as a best case.

What's in the Box

Shredder with auto-feed hopper, 37-gallon pull-out bin and power cord. ACCO's 1765015 30-gallon shredder bag (25 per box) names the 750X on its compatibility list — note that the bag is rated smaller than the bin, which is normal for a liner. Shredder oil is part 1760049.

Who Should Buy This — and Who Should Not

Buy the 750X if your problem is trips to the bin. A 37-gallon container and a 750-sheet hopper are the largest combination in this range, and in a busy department that translates directly into fewer interruptions. The twenty-sheet manual slot is a genuine convenience for anyone who prefers feeding by hand.

Do not buy it for a quiet room. At 62 dB it is the loudest AutoFeed+ model and noticeably louder than the 55 dB 600X, which is otherwise a very similar machine; if it has to sit near desks, the 600X is the better neighbour. Do not buy it if you need P-5 — the AutoFeed+ 750M is the identical cabinet with a 2 x 15 mm head. And do not buy it expecting continuous duty: four hours is four hours, the same as on the 600X, and a machine that must run all day is a commercial cabinet such as the GBC CX34-44.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is this different from the 600X?

Three things: 150 more sheets in the hopper, eight more gallons in the bin, and five more sheets in the manual slot. The run time, the cutting head, the security level and the floor area are identical. The cost is noise — 62 dB against 55 — and four extra inches of height. If bin emptying is your irritation, this is the upgrade. If noise is a consideration, it is not.

How often will the 37-gallon bin need emptying?

Roughly every 800 to 1,100 sheets of cross-cut waste, which for a department of a dozen people is usually once a week or less. Cross-cut shred is bulky and settles unevenly, so the figure moves around with paper type. The machine stops when the bin is full, so it will never overflow during an unattended run.

Can it shred staples and paper clips?

Yes to both, straight from the hopper, which is what makes a shared machine workable — you cannot ask a whole floor to de-staple reliably. Credit cards are accepted through the manual slot only. CDs, DVDs, laminated pouches and adhesive labels are not rated for this model.

Will legal paper fit?

Yes. The manual feed slot is 9.1 inches wide, so US legal at 8.5 inches goes in unfolded, as does A4. Legal-size stacks also load into the hopper. As with any auto-feed mechanism, a uniform stack feeds more reliably than a mixture of sizes.

What is the duty cycle?

Four hours, the same as the 600X. It is worth being explicit about this because the hopper is bigger: 750 sheets is a lot of paper, but the thermal budget did not grow with it. If you plan to feed the machine load after load through a full working day, you are at the edge of what this architecture is designed for.

How loud is 62 dB in practice?

Roughly the level of a busy office conversation, and audible across a room. It is not disruptive in a copy room, a print bay or a dedicated alcove, but it is not background noise either. If the machine has to sit within a few metres of people working, the 55 dB 600X is the model to choose.

What bags fit it?

ACCO part 1765015, the 30-gallon plastic shredder bag, 25 to a box — ACCO names the 750X on that part's compatibility list. The bag is rated below the bin's nominal 37 gallons; that is expected for a liner and not a mismatch.

Is this NSA approved?

No, and neither is any other model in this range. NSA/CSS 02-01 requires 1 mm x 5 mm particles and a listing on the NSA Evaluated Products List. A P-4 cross-cut at roughly 4 x 30 mm is several security classes away from that requirement.
