The GBC AutoFeed+ 230X is an ACCO auto-feed shredder that takes a stack of up to 230 sheets, locks it in the hopper and cuts it unattended into P-4 cross-cut particles of 5/32 x 1 3/16 in (approx. 4 x 30 mm). With a 16-gallon bin and a 10-sheet manual slot for odd items, it is sized for a small office where two to four people pool their confidential paper and clear it in batches.

How the 230X changes the shredding routine

With a manual shredder somebody has to stand and feed it. The 230X reverses that: load a stack roughly half a ream deep, close the locking lid and walk away while the machine pulls sheets through on its own. Stapled sets and clipped bundles can stay as they are, because ACCO rates the hopper path for both. For a single receipt, a folded letter or a card, the manual slot above the hopper takes up to 10 sheets and has a 9.1 in opening, so letter and legal paper pass flat.

The 30-minute run time is enough to empty a full hopper in one cycle. It is a firm limit rather than a guideline, so plan a large clear-out as a series of loads with breaks between them.

What P-4 covers, and why ACCO calls it micro-cut

ACCO markets the entire AutoFeed+ family as micro-cut, but the X models produce a particle near 120 mm², which DIN 66399 places in the cross-cut P-4 class. P-4 is the level commonly chosen for HR files, client correspondence and financial records. If a written policy asks for P-5, the M version of this chassis is the model that meets it; the 230X does not.

Who should choose the 230X

It fits a small practice, a front desk that opens the post, or an office manager who collects a department's confidential paper once a week and shreds it in one go. The 16-gallon bin matters as much as the hopper here, because cross-cut waste is bulky and a small bin turns into a daily chore.

Look at another model if a busy department will feed it throughout the day, since the 30-minute run time will get in the way; if your policy specifies P-5; or if CDs and DVDs need destroying, as ACCO does not rate this machine for optical media.
