VK 2310 12.34 HP Channel Baling Press

The HSM VK 2310 is the long-aperture member of HSM's compact channel baler family: it opens 1,000 mm along the feed direction where the VK 2306 opens 600 mm, which is what lets it swallow unfolded cartons, trim and offcuts that would otherwise have to be cut down before baling. This SKU pairs that aperture with the smaller 12.34 HP drive, for lines where the material is awkward but the volume is moderate.

Pressing force is 240 kN at a specific pressing force of 64 N/cm², and the bale is the same one the VK 2306 makes: 700 x 500 mm in cross-section, adjustable in length between 600 and 1,200 mm, tied with three wires and weighing up to about 250 kg. Feeding is continuous and automatic, from a conveyor, an air feed or a shredder discharge. The idle cycle on this drive is 17.2 seconds.

The price of the longer aperture is length: 6,095 mm of machine, 835 mm more than a VK 2306. Measure the bay before you compare the two on price.

What's in the Box

HSM does not publish a scope of delivery for the VK range. The press is supplied for positioning, levelling, three-phase connection and commissioning by an engineer; conveyors, hoppers, access platforms and site guarding are separate line items specified against your layout.

Baling wire is not included. The machine ties automatically with steel baling wire on rolls, and the gauge for your press is confirmed at commissioning. Optional manual strapping equipment is available from HSM if you also need to tie occasional loose material by hand.

Who Should Buy This — and Who Should Not

Buy the 12.34 HP VK 2310 if your material is long or bulky but arrives at a steady, moderate rate — a box plant clearing offcuts, a converting line producing trim, a sorting station handling unfolded cartons. You get the full 1,000 mm aperture without paying for a drive you will not saturate.

Buy the 20.12 HP VK 2310 instead if the feed is heavy or bursty. The 15 kW drive nearly halves the idle cycle, from 17.2 seconds to 9.4. Pressing force, bale size and wire count are identical, so this is purely a question of whether the press can keep up with the belt.

Buy a VK 2306 instead if your material is already shredded or shredded-and-blown, or arrives as loose film and small cartons. It presses and bales identically, in a frame 835 mm shorter. If nothing you feed is longer than 600 mm, the 2310's aperture is floor space you are paying for and not using.

Step up to a VK 5012 if you need a mill-standard 1,100 mm wide bale rather than a 700 mm one, or if your stream includes rigid HDPE containers and big bags. The 2310 tops out at roughly 250 kg per bale; the 5012 reaches 550 kg.
