VK 2310 12.34 HP Channel Baling Press

The HSM VK 2310 12.34 HP is a 240 kN automatic channel baler whose 26.4 x 39.4 in (670 x 1,000 mm) loading opening takes long material such as unfolded cartons, trim and offcuts without cutting it down first. On this 9.2 kW drive it idles at 17.2 seconds per cycle and produces three-wire bales of 27.6 x 19.7 in (700 x 500 mm) weighing up to about 551 lb (250 kg). It is intended for lines where material is awkwardly long but arrives at a moderate, even rate.

Why the long opening matters

With a 600 mm opening, long pieces have to be folded, cut or pre-shredded before they reach the ram, which costs labor or extra equipment. The 2310's opening is 1,000 mm long, so a box plant clearing offcuts or a converting line producing trim can feed the press as material comes. The trade-off is floor length: at 240.0 in (6,095 mm) the machine is 835 mm longer than a VK 2306, so check the bay before comparing prices.

When the 9.2 kW drive is enough

HSM gives a 17.2 second idle cycle for this motor and 9.4 seconds for the 15 kW version; ram force, opening and bale are identical. HSM also quotes a headline of up to approximately 144 m³/h for the VK 2310 model without saying which drive it belongs to, so we do not credit it to this one. If your feed is steady and nobody waits on the baler, the slower cycle does the job on less connected load.

Delivery, wire and strapping

No formal scope of delivery is published. The press is placed, leveled, connected to three-phase power and commissioned, with conveyors, hoppers and guarding specified separately. It ties automatically with steel wire on rolls, which is not included; HSM also sells optional manual strapping equipment for tying loose material by hand away from the machine.

Who it suits

A box plant, converter or sorting station with long, bulky material arriving at a moderate pace gets the full 1,000 mm opening without paying for a faster drive. Already shredded or compact material does not need it; a recycler demanding 1,100 mm bales points to the VK 5012.
