Does the bigger motor make heavier bales?
No. Both VK 2306 variants press at 240 kN into the same 700 x 500 mm chamber, so bale density and weight are the same: 140–250 kg depending on material. The 15 kW drive cycles the ram faster, which is why HSM quotes 113 m³/h of theoretical idle throughput and 5.63 t/h on material at 50 kg/m³. You are buying rate, not compaction.
What throughput will I actually see?
Less than the published figure, and how much less depends entirely on your material. HSM's numbers are: 113 m³/h in idle operation (theoretical), 2.25 t/h on material with a bulk density of 20 kg/m³, and 5.63 t/h at 50 kg/m³. Loose film sits near the bottom of that range, baled OCC near the top. Use the tonnage figures rather than the volumetric one when sizing against a waste contract.
How long a bale can it make?
Anywhere from 600 mm to 1,200 mm, set on the control. The cross-section is fixed at 700 x 500 mm. Longer bales mean fewer wire ties per tonne and better trailer utilisation; shorter bales are easier to handle if your forklift or your storage area is constrained. Three wires are applied regardless of length.
Can it run without an operator?
It is designed to. Loading is continuous from a conveyor belt, air feed or similar; a light barrier tells the press when to cycle; tying and ejection are automatic. What still needs a person is wire loading, bale removal, and routine inspection. A VK 2306 is not a machine you install and forget, but it is a machine that runs a shift without someone standing at it.
Is 480 V correct for the US?
The US article data lists 480 V / 60 Hz three phase, and that is what we have published. HSM's European datasheet for the same press lists 400 V / 50 Hz, with 380 V / 60 Hz available on request. Because supply arrangements for capital plant vary, confirm the exact voltage, phase and breaker requirement on your order acknowledgement before the electrical contractor quotes.
Why does this listing show a 620 mm aperture when other sites say 670 mm?
Because 670 x 1,000 mm is the VK 2310's aperture, and it gets copied onto VK 2306 listings regularly — including, previously, this one. HSM's detailed datasheet for the VK 2306 gives a loading aperture of 620 mm wide by 600 mm long. The model numbering is a clue: the '06' and '10' refer to the aperture length in decimetres.
