VK 2306 12.34 HP Channel Baling Press

The HSM VK 2306 12.34 HP is the lower-powered version of HSM's most compact fully automatic channel baler, a 240 kN press with a 9.2 kW drive that ties three wires around 27.6 x 19.7 in (700 x 500 mm) bales of up to 551 lb (250 kg). At 207.1 in (5,260 mm) long it is the shortest machine in HSM's automatic line. It is meant for sites that want unattended baling of paper, film and light packaging from a conveyor or shredder, but whose volume is moderate and steady.

Same press as the 20.12 HP, slower ram

Both VK 2306 drives press at 240 kN through the same opening into the same chamber and tie the same three-wire bale. The only difference is how quickly the ram cycles. HSM publishes a theoretical 113 m³/h for the 15 kW version but no throughput figure for this 9.2 kW drive, so we do not state one. What you get in return is a lower connected load and a lower price, with no loss of bale density.

Automatic baling, not hand loading

Material drops into the 620 x 600 mm opening from above, a light barrier tells the ram when to stroke, and tied bales are pushed out of the end of the channel with nobody standing at the machine. That makes the VK 2306 a good match for a single sorting line, a shredder outfeed or a production cell producing punch waste and trim. Fed by hand with armloads of boxes, it would sit idle most of the time; HSM's V-Press 860 vertical baler is the cheaper tool for that job.

Installation and consumables

HSM does not publish a scope of delivery for VK presses. The machine is set in place, leveled, connected to three-phase power and commissioned; conveyors, chutes, platforms and guarding are quoted separately for your site. Baling wire comes on rolls, is not included, and its gauge is confirmed at commissioning. Leave clear space at the discharge end for bales to exit and be collected.

• VK 2310 12.34 HP: same force and bale, but a 670 x 1,000 mm opening that accepts long cartons and offcuts, at the cost of 835 mm more machine length.

Who it suits

Pick this drive when space is tight, feed is automatic and volume is modest. If nothing you bale is longer than 600 mm, it is the most economical way into HSM's automatic range. If the line regularly surges, take the 20.12 HP drive; if pieces are long, take a VK 2310.
