Frequently Asked Questions
Will this twine work on my V-Press 403 or 503?
No. HSM lists this article for the V-Press 60 only. The V-Press 403 takes WG 20 polyester tape, part 6100 993 010, and the V-Press 503 takes WG 30 or WG 40. Those machines strap with a tape head rather than by hand, so twine is not a substitute even if you could thread it.
How strong is the twine?
HSM does not publish a tensile strength or diameter for this article, and we will not quote a figure we cannot source. What is published is the roll: 200 m weighing 2 kg. If you need a rated breaking strength for a compliance file, ask HSM directly with part number 6201 993 000.
How many bales will one roll tie?
That depends on your bale size and how many ties you use, and HSM does not publish a bale figure for the V-Press 60. Measure the girth of a finished bale, multiply by the number of ties plus an allowance for knotting, and divide into 200 m. We would rather you calculate it from your own bales than take a number that may not match your material.
Can I use ordinary baling twine from an agricultural supplier?
Mechanically there is nothing stopping you, since the V-Press 60 is tied by hand. The trade-off is that you lose HSM's specification, and agricultural twine varies widely in strength and stretch. For a press under warranty, or where bales are handled by a third-party collector, staying with the HSM article avoids the argument.
