Strapping tape WG 55 for V-Press 1160/V-Press 860/VL 500 - HSM6514993000

WG 55 is the polyester tape for HSM's large vertical balers, and it exists because those machines strap with wire by default. The V-Press 860 and V-Press 1160 leave the factory set up for four-fold wire strapping; WG 55 is the consumable for the optional polyester tape station. At 14.6 mm wide and rated 670 kg it is nearly two and a half times stronger than WG 40, which is what a bale approaching half a tonne requires. The roll holds 400 m rather than the 500 m of the narrower tapes.

On the V-Press 860 and 1160 the tape station is an option, not standard equipment. If your press was supplied in its standard configuration it straps with wire and this tape will not be usable on it.

Specifications

Reorder by part number 6514 993 000. Because the roll is shorter and the bales are much larger, WG 55 turns over far faster per bale than the tapes used on small presses - plan stock accordingly. A V-Press 860 bale measures 1200 x 780 x up to 1200 mm and weighs as much as 480 kg; a V-Press 1160 bale runs to 1200 x 1100 x up to 1200 mm and 550 kg. Four straps around a bale that size consumes roughly 20 m of tape, so a 400 m roll covers a working week on a moderately busy press rather than a month.

Do not substitute WG 40 to save money. Its 380 kg rating is barely half what WG 55 provides, and a strap that lets go on a half-tonne bale in a yard is a safety incident, not an inconvenience.
