Frequently Asked Questions
My V-Press 860 uses wire. Can I switch to this tape?
Not by buying the tape alone. The V-Press 860 and 1160 are supplied for four-fold wire strapping, and polyester tape requires the optional tape station, which is ordered separately from HSM. If the station is already fitted, WG 55 is the correct consumable. If it is not, you need the pre-looped wire instead - part 6135 993 002 for the 860 and 6136 993 002 for the 1160.
How many bales will a 400 m roll strap?
This is an estimate from published bale dimensions, not a manufacturer figure. A V-Press 860 bale is 1200 x 780 x up to 1200 mm and is strapped four times. The girth on the strapped axis is roughly 4.8 m, so four straps plus tensioning slack comes to around 20 m per bale, which works out near 20 bales per roll. The V-Press 1160 makes a larger bale and will use more.
Will WG 55 work on a V-Press 610 or 818?
No. HSM lists those under WG 40, part 6212 993 010. At 14.6 mm, WG 55 is too wide for the guides and sealing head on the smaller presses. Going the other way is equally unwise: WG 40's 380 kg rating is well short of what a V-Press 860 bale needs.
Is WG 55 the same as HD 65?
No. HD 65 is a separate HSM article, 6216 993 050, listed for the HL 3521 S and V-Press 860 S/P. WG 55 is 14.6 mm and rated 670 kg. Order by part number rather than by description, because the naming across the WG and HD ranges is easy to misread.
