Description

WG 40 is the mid-width polyester strapping tape in HSM's baler range and the one that covers the largest number of machines. At 11.7 mm wide with a 380 kg tensile rating, it is the step up from WG 30 for presses producing heavier or springier bales, and it is what HSM specifies for most of the V-Press 600 and 800 series. The roll carries 500 m, the same length as WG 30, but weighs 3.3 kg because of the extra width.

One note on the width figure: HSM's current product data gives 11.7 mm, while the 2018 vertical baling press brochure prints 11.5 mm for the same article number. The difference is within normal tape tolerance and does not affect fitment, but it is worth knowing if you are cross-checking documents. Reorder by part number 6212 993 010.

Frequently Asked Questions

My V-Press 504 manual mentions WG 30. Which tape should I order?

HSM lists the V-Press 503, 504 and 605 under both WG 30 and WG 40, so either width is supported on those machines. The practical answer is to stay with whatever the press was commissioned with, because the tape guides and the sealing head are set for one width. If you are unsure, look at the roll currently fitted and measure it: 8 mm is WG 30, 11.7 mm is WG 40.

Does WG 40 fit the V-Press 860 or V-Press 1160?

No. Those two presses strap four-fold with wire as standard and take WG 55 tape, part 6514 993 000, if the optional polyester tape station is fitted. WG 40 is not rated for the bale sizes those machines produce - a V-Press 1160 bale can reach 550 kg against a 380 kg tape rating.

How is this different from WG 30 apart from the width?

Width and strength are the only meaningful differences. Both are 500 m polyester rolls. WG 30 is 8.0 mm and rated 280 kg; WG 40 is 11.7 mm and rated 380 kg, and weighs 3.3 kg per roll against 2.2 kg. Both use the same reordering logic and neither is a drop-in substitute for the other on a machine set up for the alternative.

Is the tape polyester or polypropylene?

Polyester. HSM specifies PET strapping across the WG range because it holds tension as a cardboard or film bale relaxes, where polypropylene tends to creep. That matters most on bales that sit in a yard for days before collection.

How many rolls come in a pack?

This listing is for a single roll. HSM does not publish a multi-roll packaging unit for article 6212 993 010, so quantities are ordered as individual rolls. If you need a pallet quantity for a multi-machine site, ask us for a quote rather than relying on a published case pack.
