Will WG 30 fit my V-Press 610 or V-Press 818?
No. Those presses take the wider WG 40 tape, HSM part 6212 993 010, which is 11.7 mm across. HSM's compatibility list for WG 30 stops at the V-Press 605. Fitting an 8 mm tape to a machine whose guides and sealer are set for 11.7 mm will give you poor tension and unreliable seals, and the roll may not sit correctly in the dispenser.
Roughly how many bales does one roll produce?
It depends on your press and bale size, so treat this as an estimate rather than a specification. A V-Press 504 makes a 700 x 500 x 600 mm bale strapped twice. The girth around that bale is about 2.6 m, so two straps plus tensioning slack works out near 6 m per bale, giving roughly 80 bales from the 500 m roll. Larger bales or four-fold strapping will cut that figure substantially.
What is the tensile strength?
HSM rates WG 30 at 280 kg, about 617 lb. That is the lowest of the four HSM polyester tapes; WG 40 is rated 380 kg, WG 55 at 670 kg and WG 65 at 800 kg. If bales on your machine are bursting their straps, the answer is usually a wider tape on a press that supports it rather than more wraps of WG 30.
Can I use a generic 8 mm polyester strap instead?
Possibly, but check three things first: the width must be 8.0 mm, the tensile strength should be at least 280 kg, and the roll core has to fit the dispenser on your press. HSM does not publish the core dimensions for this roll, so we cannot confirm compatibility with a generic roll in advance. If the machine is under warranty, HSM's consumable specification is the safer route.
Is this the same tape as the WG 30 sold for the SP 5088?
Yes. HSM lists the SP 5088 shredder-baler combination under the same article, 6205 993 010. The tape is identical regardless of which of the listed machines it is bought for.
