HSM part 6135 993 002 is pre-looped steel baling wire, 2.8 mm (0.11 in) thick and 3,700 mm (approx. 145.7 in) long, for tying off bales on the HSM V-Press 840, V-Press 860, V-Press 860 S/P, VL 225 and VL 500 vertical balers. Wire is the standard strapping method on these presses, and because each piece already has its loop formed, the operator feeds it through the bale channels and hooks it closed with no tensioning tool. It is sold as a 10 kg (22 lb) bundle.

The V-Press 1160 is not on this list. Its larger bale needs the 4,400 mm wire, part 6136 993 002, which has the same diameter, so check the length on the label rather than the look of the coil.

How much wire a V-Press 860 uses

On the V-Press 860, each bale is tied four times, so every finished bale uses four wires. That bale measures 1200 x 780 x up to 1200 mm and can weigh as much as 480 kg. HSM includes two coils of this wire in the machine's basic equipment; sites that bale daily usually keep a spare bundle on hand once those run out. HSM states the bundle weight but no piece count, so if you plan stock by number of bales, weigh and count your first bundle and use that as your internal figure.

Wire or tape: check your machine first

The V-Press 860 can also be ordered with an optional polyester tape station. A press set up that way uses WG 55 tape, part 6514 993 000, and will not use this wire at all. The quickest check is to look at what was used to tie the last bale, not the model plate.
