Description

The intimus PB6 is a case of 50 waste bags for one machine only: the intimus 14.90 industrial shredder, which older paperwork calls the 490. It is a legacy part for a discontinued model, kept in supply for sites that still have a 14.90 in service. If your plate reads 14.90 or 490, this is your bag.

PB6 at a glance

  • Part number PB6, genuine intimus
  • 50 bags per case, the standard intimus industrial pack
  • Fits the intimus 14.90, also catalogued as the 490
  • Not shown on intimus North America's current consumables page
  • Supplied in a 12 x 17.5 x 6.5 in carton

One machine, two names: the 14.90 and the 490

intimus moved its industrial range from three-digit model numbers to decimal ones, so the same shredder can carry either label depending on its age and documentation. We file this part under both. The serial plate inside the cabinet door is the quickest way to confirm which machine you have. Industrial liners come fifty to a case because each bag is far larger than an office liner, and a 100-count carton would be awkward to handle.

Keeping a discontinued 14.90 running

Since the 14.90 has left the current intimus line-up, PB6 supply can be intermittent. Sites that depend on the machine usually keep a full case in reserve instead of ordering when the last bag goes in. Bags tend to be among the final consumables to vanish for a retired model, but they do go eventually. If you are deciding whether to keep the 14.90 or replace it, weigh bag availability next to spare parts and the state of the cutting head. We can walk you through the 14.95, the 14.87 shredder-baler and the 16.50, all of which are fully supported with current bag part numbers.

PB6, PB7 or PB9?

  • PB7: the liner for the 16.50 series.
  • PB9: the liner for the 14.95 and the 14.87.

The containers on those machines differ from the 14.90's, so a PB6 will not seat on them, and their bags will not suit a 14.90.

Who needs PB6

Only owners of an intimus 14.90 or 490. Everyone else running intimus industrial equipment should match their model to the PB7 or PB9.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are the intimus 490 and the 14.90 the same shredder?

Yes. They are one machine under two naming schemes, after intimus switched its industrial range from three-digit to decimal model numbers. That is why the PB6 is listed against both names. Whichever one appears on your serial plate, the PB6 is the bag to order.

How many bags are in a case of PB6?

A case of PB6 holds 50 bags. intimus packs its industrial liners in fifties instead of hundreds because each bag is much larger than an office shredder bag, and the case ships in a 12 x 17.5 x 6.5 in carton.

Does the PB6 fit the intimus 14.95 or 16.50?

No. The 14.95 uses the PB9, as does the 14.87, and the 16.50 uses the PB7. Their waste containers are different from the 14.90's, so a PB6 would not sit properly on the rim and shred would end up behind the liner.

Is the PB6 still available now that the 14.90 is discontinued?

Yes, it is still supplied for machines that remain in service, although it no longer appears on intimus North America's current consumables page. Availability can be patchy, so it is wise to keep a spare case on hand and to contact us well before you run out.
