Does Turbo mode change the security level?
No. Turbo changes how much paper the motor can pull through in one pass, not how finely it is cut. The particle stays 3.5 x 30 mm - 105 mm2, comfortably inside the 160 mm2 DIN 66399 limit for P-4 - in both modes. What changes is power draw, from 460 W to 550 W, and capacity, from 13-15 sheets to 24-26 at 70 g/m2.
How many sheets will it really take with US Letter paper?
Kobra quotes 24-26 sheets on 70 g/m2 A4 and 19-21 sheets on 80 g/m2. Standard US 20 lb bond is about 75 g/m2, so plan on the low twenties. Heavier stock, glossy paper and anything folded counts for more than its page count. Overfeeding triggers the automatic reverse rather than a hard jam, so the cost of misjudging is a few seconds.
What does the paper and plastic separating mechanism do?
When you shred a CD or a card, the plastic fragments would normally end up mixed through the paper shred and contaminate a single-stream paper recycling collection. Kobra fits this bin with a mechanism that keeps the plastic shred apart from the paper shred so the two can be tipped out separately. It is a housekeeping feature, not a security one.
Can it shred CDs and floppy disks?
Yes - Kobra lists CDs, DVDs, Blu-ray and floppy disks for this model, along with paper, credit cards, chip cards and films. They feed through the same 240 mm throat as paper. Insert them one at a time rather than in a stack, and never together with a wad of paper. Note that a cross-cut head produces coarse plastic fragments; it is fine for routine archive discs, not for classified optical media.
Is it noticeably faster than the standard 240 C4 in daily use?
Yes, when the bottleneck is stack size. A 250-page archive box takes about ten passes on the Turbo against nineteen on the standard C4. The feed speed itself is the same, so for shredding a few pages at a time you will not notice a difference. The premium is worth paying if more than two or three people share the machine.
How full does the bin get and does it warn me?
The 35-litre bin holds roughly 300-400 cross-cut sheets. The safety stop halts the cutters when the bin is removed, and the Energy Smart indicators show the machine's state, but this cabinet has no transparent fill window - so checking the bin needs to be a habit. Kobra states no plastic bags are required; the bin tips directly.
What warranty comes with it?
