Kobra +2 SS7

The Kobra +2 SS7 is a deskside bulk shredder that cuts paper into 7.5 mm (1/4 in) strips at DIN 66399 P-1 and takes 25-27 sheets per pass on 70 g/m² paper. Beside the paper throat it has a dedicated 5.0 in (125 mm) slot for CDs, DVDs and plastic cards, which feeds a separate 1.5-liter bin. It is aimed at print rooms and stores counters that dispose of large amounts of non-confidential paper and the occasional disc or badge.

Built for throughput, with media kept separate

The SS7 head is the least demanding cutter Kobra fits to this cabinet. With wide strips and lengthwise cuts only, the 250 W motor can pull a thick stack, and on heavier 80 g/m² paper it still manages 22-24 sheets. Where the +2 SS7 earns its place over the +1 SS7 is the second intake: disc and card fragments go to their own small container instead of being scattered through the paper shred.

P-1 is the bottom of the DIN 66399 scale. A 7.5 mm strip keeps lines of text intact, and the media rating of O-1 means discs are only broken into large pieces. This is a machine for waste reduction rather than data protection.

Operation, safety and upkeep

Sensors start the knives when paper is inserted and stop them when the throat is clear. An oversize stack reverses automatically, and the cutters stop once the bin is full or pulled out. Kobra rates the carbon-hardened steel knives as unaffected by staples and paper clips, and the motor for 24-hour duty with thermal protection. Energy Smart standby saves power between jobs. Both bins are used without liners. Expect to empty the paper bin often, because wide strips fill space quickly.

Who should consider the +2 SS7

It fits a drawing office, print room or warehouse counter that wants big stacks gone quickly and has some discs or badges to dispose of. It is the wrong machine for anything personal, financial or medical. For that, the +3 CC4 (P-4) or +2 CC2 (P-5) offer the same two-bin layout with far smaller particles.
