HSM V-Press 1160 Eco Vertical Bailing Press

The HSM V-Press 1160 eco is a vertical baling press that applies 594 kN of force to make wire-tied bales measuring 1200 x 1200 x 1100 mm and weighing up to 550 kg (1,213 lb). It shares the pressing performance of the 1160 plus in a shallower, lighter frame, which makes it the more compact way into HSM's biggest bale. It is built for distribution centers, large retailers, manufacturers and waste operators that produce cardboard, film or mixed paper by the ton and have a tall bay to put it in.

What a 550 kg bale does for your waste costs

The 1160 eco exists to make bales heavy enough for paper mills and recyclers to buy as a graded commodity and collect by the trailer load. Each one holds roughly what two to three 1100 liter containers of flattened cardboard would, depending on how tightly it is loaded. For a high-volume site that usually means fewer container lifts, a periodic bale pickup in their place, and material that earns money instead of costing it. Four-fold wire strapping holds that spring-back under control; HSM offers a polyester tape station as an option.

Planning the bay: height, power and handling

Height is the first thing to check. At 2985 mm the press will not fit under a nominal 3 m ceiling once you allow working clearance, so plan on 3.3 m or more of clear height below the lowest beam or duct. Have an electrician run a hard-wired 480 V three-phase supply before delivery. HSM's 400 V / 50 Hz version of the same machine is rated 4 kW; the 4.8 kW figure here reflects 60 Hz operation, not a different motor. Finished bales leave on a forklift or heavy pallet truck, so keep a clear approach in front of the door.

These dimensions apply to US article 6140113. HSM's European data for the 1160 eco shows a shallower depth under another article number, so confirm the delivered footprint on your order acknowledgement. Baling wire, the tape station, electrical hookup and bale-handling equipment are not included.

1160 eco, 1160 plus or a smaller V-Press?

• V-Press 1160 plus: identical force, bale, opening and drive, on a deeper frame that weighs 2427 kg against the eco's 2300 kg. On HSM's figures the eco produces the same bale with less floor and less weight.
• V-Press 825 plus: 2370 mm tall, 615 mm lower than the eco, pressing at 250 kN to a 280 kg bale. Choose it when ceiling height rules out the 1160.
• V-Press 820 plus: 178 kN and a 250 kg bale, a better-sized spend for moderate cardboard volumes.

Who should buy the 1160 eco

It fits a site with tonnage-level cardboard or film, a tall bay, three-phase power and a forklift. Look at the 825 or 820 instead if the ceiling is near 3 m, if bales would have to be moved by hand pallet truck, or if your volume would leave a 550 kg bale half-filled for weeks.
