Frequently Asked Questions
How many clamps are in a box?
One thousand. HSM sells article 6127990101 only as a 1,000-piece box; there is no smaller pack. The box weighs 12 kg (about 26.5 lb), which works out to roughly 12 grams per clamp. Plan your reorder point around straps per bale rather than bales per box: a press applying two straps to every bale consumes 1,000 clamps in 500 bales, while a single-strap operation gets 1,000 bales from the same box.
Which HSM balers do these clamps fit?
HSM catalogues 6127990101 against its polyester baler tape range rather than against individual press models, so the honest answer is that it fits presses that strap with HSM tape. HSM's own consumables table lists it beside WG 30, WG 40, WG 55, WG 65 and HD 65 tape. HSM does not publish a per-model fitment list or a maximum tape width for the clamp, so if you are ordering for an unfamiliar press, confirm with HSM using your machine serial number before committing to a full box.
Can I use these on a wire-tied baler?
No. Tape clamps close polyester tape. Wire-tied HSM presses use a completely different closure: the V-Press 840, 860 and 1160 use pre-looped eyelet wire (articles 6135993002, 6136993002, 6135993003), and the VK channel balers use coiled strapping wire such as the 2.8 mm 40 kg coil, article 6652993500. Ordering clamps for a wire machine leaves you with a box you cannot use.
Is there a generic equivalent?
Generic strapping seals exist and many are dimensionally similar, but HSM does not publish the clamp's dimensions or the tape width it is designed around, so there is no specification you can match a third-party seal against with confidence. A seal that is marginally too wide or too soft will slip under tension, and a bale that fails after it leaves the press is a safety problem, not just a rework. For a consumable at this price, matching the manufacturer's part is the sensible choice.
Do the clamps need a special tool?
They are applied with the sealing tool or the strapping head that came with your press, in the same motion that tensions the tape. HSM does not supply a separate applicator under this article number, and none is included in the box. If your sealing tool is worn to the point that clamps are slipping, replace the tool jaws rather than the clamps — a worn tool will chew through good seals indefinitely.
