HSM Shredder Lubricant - 16 oz Bottles - 12 / Carton - 3200000003

HSM part 3200000003 (US reference HSM314P) is a case of twelve 16 fl oz bottles of HSM special shredder lubricant. The bottle size is the useful part: 16 oz is a squeeze bottle you keep next to the machine and use at bag changes, which is a different job from the gallon jug you use to refill an automatic oiler. Twelve bottles is enough to put one beside every shredder in a mid-size building.

HSM specifies this lubricant across its shredder range, including the Classic, SECURIO, Pure, AutoFeed and shredstar lines. It is the correct oil for both manually oiled machines and for topping up HSM automatic oiling systems.

HSM's operating instructions call for oiling the cutting rollers of particle-cut machines; the manual for HSM's cross-cut shredstar models specifies running the machine in reverse and squeezing a thin strip of oil across the full width of the cutters after every 15 to 30 minutes of continuous use. Intervals differ by model, so check the manual for yours. HSM's manuals also warn against using any oil not specified for shredder use, and against aerosol or other flammable products on or near the machine — that warning is about fire risk, not brand loyalty.

Strip-cut machines generally need far less oiling than cross-cut and micro-cut machines, because the cutting geometry generates less friction and dust. If your machine has an automatic oiling system, this is the oil that goes in the reservoir.

The safety data sheet classifies this oil as acute inhalation category 4, harmful if inhaled. In practice that means apply it as a bead from the bottle as HSM instructs; do not decant it into a spray bottle or use it in any way that creates a mist.
