Will this bag fit a SECURIO B34?
No. The B34 takes the 34 gallon bag, part 3310000004 (HSM1815), at 34 by 18 by 15 inches. The 58 gallon bag is 10 inches taller and 3 inches wider and will fold over inside a B34 cabinet, which defeats the point of a fitted liner. The B35 is the first model in the SECURIO line that uses this larger bag.
How heavy is a full 58 gallon bag?
Heavy enough that most sites treat it as a two-person lift. Shredded paper settles at roughly 3 to 5 pounds per cubic foot depending on cut type, so a full 58 gallon bag of micro-cut output can approach 40 pounds. Cross-cut output is lighter for the same volume because the particles pack less densely.
Is 58 gallons the same as the machine's bin volume?
Not exactly, and it should not be. The bag is intentionally cut larger than the bin so the lip can fold over the cabinet frame and the bag can be closed at the top when full. Do not size a replacement bag by matching the machine's stated bin liters; match the HSM part number instead.
Can I use these with a shredder from another brand?
Sometimes, but check the footprint rather than the gallon rating. A 21 by 17 inch gusset is a fairly common large-console size and the bag will physically fit a number of non-HSM cabinets. What varies is how the bag is retained at the top; if the other machine uses a clamp ring rather than a fold-over frame, the fit will be poor.
Are the bags sold individually?
No. HSM supplies this bag only in 100-count rolls, and there is no smaller pack in the range. For a single high-volume departmental machine, 100 bags is roughly a year of use at two changes a week, so most buyers order one roll at a time rather than holding several. If your site runs more than one machine in the Classic 225 to 412 or SECURIO B35 to P40 group, they all take this same bag, which makes stock planning simpler.
