Why metal detection matters on a 1 x 5 mm head

The P-7 paper head is the finest and least forgiving cutter HSM puts on this cabinet, and staples and clips are not on its list of accepted materials. Where paper comes from locked collection consoles, archive boxes or several departments, an overlooked clip is only a matter of time.

HSM describes the detector's job simply: if metal parts are inserted, the shredder stops so they can be removed before work continues. It is an interlock rather than a sorter, so documents should still be prepared. The 4.3-inch touch display tells the operator why the machine has stopped.

Media unit and routine care

The OMDD unit takes CDs and DVDs and credit and loyalty cards, reducing them to 2 x 2 mm into a container of their own, so the paper waste stays clean. Solid-state media such as USB sticks are not on its list. The 1900 W IntelligentDrive has three modes and catches over-thick stacks on entry, and an automatic oiler lubricates the paper head; refill it with HSM cutting block special oil. If a small, trained team prepares every document, the HSM1874M offers the same security for less. If an NSA-listed model is required, look at the P40i OMDD configuration instead.
