HSM SECURIO P44i 1/32 x 3/16 plus metal detection and separate OMDD cutting unit 2x2mm

Of the twelve P40i and P44i configurations we stock, this is the most heavily specified: a 1 x 5 mm P-7 paper head, a separate 2 x 2 mm OMDD unit at O-6, and metal detection at the intake to stop the machine before metal reaches either. The metal detector is the point. A P-7 cutting unit at 1 x 5 mm is the most expensive and least forgiving component in the range, and HSM does not list staples or paper clips as accepted materials for it. If your paper arrives from secure collection bins rather than from a person who prepared it, the detector is what stands between an overlooked clip and a damaged cutting head.

Specifications

Sheet capacities are HSM's per-model figures at 80 g/m2 A4. HSM's range brochure quotes capacity at 70 g/m2, which reads roughly 15 percent higher, so figures quoted elsewhere may not match.

What's in the Box

Ships with both cutting units and the metal detection system installed, the 205 litre paper container, the separate OMDD waste container and the factory-fitted automatic oiler. Collection bags, the P44i cardboard disposal box and cutting block special oil are consumables and are not included. At 105 kg this needs planned delivery access and two people to position.

Who Should Buy This - and Who Should Not

Buy it if you run P-7 destruction on an input stream you do not control, which in practice means secure collection bins, archive purges and multi-department consolidation. The combination of metal detection and a separate media unit is built for exactly that: unpredictable material, top security class, one machine.

Do not buy it if your paper is prepared before it reaches the shredder. Article 1874123M is the same machine without metal detection and costs less. Do not buy it for an NSA requirement either: the P44i is absent from the NSA/CSS Evaluated Products List for paper shredders dated July 2025, and the listed HSM machine is the SECURIO P40i L6 (1 x 5 mm) OMDD Combi. As with every P-6 and P-7 machine in this family, HSM's lifetime cutting-roller warranty covers P-2 to P-5 only and does not apply here.
