HSM SECURIO P44i 1/16 x 5/8 plus separate CD cutting unit 4x7mm

Take the P-5 SECURIO P44i and add a second cutting head purely for discs and cards, with its own waste container, and you have this article. The paper side is unchanged: 1.9 x 15 mm particles, 25 to 27 sheets a pass, 400 mm throat, 205 litre bin. What the 4 x 7 mm CD unit buys you is separation. Media fragments never touch the paper waste, so a 205 litre bin of shredded paper stays a clean recyclable stream and media destruction can be recorded as its own activity at class O-4.

Specifications

Sheet capacities are HSM's per-model figures at 80 g/m2 A4. HSM's range brochure quotes capacity at 70 g/m2, which reads roughly 15 percent higher, so figures quoted elsewhere may not match.

What's in the Box

Ships with both cutting units installed, the 205 litre paper container, the separate media waste container and the factory-fitted automatic oiler. Collection bags and the P44i cardboard disposal box are not included and are ordered as consumables, as is cutting block special oil. At 111 kg this is a two-person placement; check door widths and lift capacity in advance.

Who Should Buy This - and Who Should Not

Buy it if you already know you want the P-5 P44i and you destroy optical media or payment cards often enough that a mixed bin is a nuisance or a compliance question. The separate unit is what lets you keep paper recycling clean and record media destruction distinctly.

Do not buy it if discs are occasional. The standard P44i 1.9 x 15 mm (HSM1872) already accepts CDs, DVDs and even USB sticks through the paper throat at O-4 and T-5, for less money and 6 kg less machine. And if the discs carry data that would justify the expense of a dedicated media unit, consider whether 4 x 7 mm is really the class you want: the 2 x 2 mm OMDD unit on the P44i 1 x 5 mm reaches O-6, one of the highest optical classes DIN 66399 defines. As with the standard article, HSM publishes 220-240 V for this model and we could not verify a US mains figure, so confirm supply requirements before installation.
