Why buy the separate media cutter on a P-5 machine

The standard P44i 1.9 x 15 mm already accepts CDs and cards through its paper opening and reaches the same O-4 and T-5 classes as this article. So the CD unit here is not about a higher rating. It is about separation. Discs, credit and loyalty cards and floppy disks go into their own slot and their own container, so the 205 liter paper bin holds nothing but shredded paper.

That matters in two situations. If your shredded paper goes to a fiber recycler, plastic and metallized film can spoil the load. And if your destruction records need to show media handled apart from documents, two containers give you that without anyone picking through mixed waste.

The paper head is identical to the HSM1872: 28.5 mm² particles, inside the 30 mm² P-5 limit, at 25-27 sheets. The 400 mm opening clears A3 and tabloid short edge, and staples and clips can stay in. The 1900 W IntelligentDrive offers three operating modes, starts and stops automatically and catches an over-thick stack on entry.

Roller lubrication is automatic; refill the oiler with HSM cutting block special oil. Who should choose the 1872C
